Why Your Best Friends Are The Best People To Travel With
Jerralyn Davis

As cliche as it sounds, when we choose our friends, we're choosing our family. The friends that you meet in college, are the ones that will carry you through not only the rest of your collegiate career but they will be there for you through major life moments. They'll be there for you when you have a mini mid-life crisis and can't decide if grad school really is for you. They'll be the ones drunkenly singing along with you in the bar when your favorite song comes on. Your best friends in college are the ones that will piece you back together when you go through your first "grown up" break up and remind you that you are a QWN and deserve nothing but loyalty and respect. They're always there for you in the moments where you need them the most which is why they're the best people to travel with. Here are 8 reasons you should plan a trip with your best friends.

1. You finally get some 24/7 quality time together.

When was the last time that you were ALL together without someone having to leave early or not drink because of their responsibilities? When you plan a trip with your best friends, it's the first time in a long time that you can all just focus on one another. No work. No school. No boys. Just the bunch of you together.

2. They'll be brutally honest when you ask for their opinion on your outfit (because you all know you're going to be taking pictures non-stop.)

3. You automatically know that everything that they brought you can use.

You guys have known each other for years. You don't even have to ask if you can use their highlight because you know they'll apply it for you the second you ask.

4. Ordering drinks and food is a breeze because you all know each other's orders.

Sober or not, sometimes it's difficult to find a place for everyone, except when you're with your best friends. You each know everyone's likes and dislikes and automatically know the go to drink (drank) and food item of their choice.

5. You always have someone looking out for you and a permanent bathroom buddy.

Since you are all so close, you can physically feel if someone from the group is missing. And you know that at least one person is down to go to the bathroom with you.

6. Paying for things isn't awkward.

You all know each other's business so you know if someone really can't pay. Regardless, it's not a big deal if you spot someone because you know that they'll pay you back eventually.

7. It gives you more "Hey remember when we _______'d that one time we went to _________? I love us."

Any time that you are all together, you know that there's going to be memories made. This trip sets you up with countless inside jokes and random funny stories.

8. Most importantly, it makes you realize how blessed you are to have them in your life.

They've seen you at your best and your worst. When you are all together, you can conquer anything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
