Your Ultimate Guide To Movies In 2016

2016 appears to be the year of returns. This year will mark our much-awaited return to the Wizarding World in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" as well as the returns of our favorite frat boys in Neighbors 2, one of the best couples of the 90s in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2," and of course, the return of Nemo, Marlin, Dory, and many more in "Finding Dory." Check out the list below to see what you'll be spending way too much money on at the movie theater.

1. Superhero — There are several superhero movies scheduled to be released in 2016! But we all know that the real winner in the fight is not a superhero at all: it’s whatever studio makes the most money at the box office.

"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" - March 25, 2016 - Ben Affleck will make his debut as Batman in this superhero film. We also see the return of Henry Cavill as Superman.

"Captain America: Civil War" - May 6, 2016 - The film that will cause Marvel fans everywhere to take sides: Captain America versus Iron Man. Both form teams and alliances with fellow Avengers, but who will emerge victorious?

"X-Men: Apocalypse" - May 27, 2016 - This will be the ninth movie in the X-Men series. All of your favorite characters are back including Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), and Quicksilver (Evan Peters).

"Suicide Squad" - August 5, 2016 - A group of villains take on a suicide mission for the government. The film stars Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Will Smith as Deadshot, and Ben Affleck as Batman.

2. Comedy — For 2016, comedy movies don’t look much different than the past few years. Most of them are starring familiar faces such as Jonah Hill, Zac Efron, Melissa McCarthy, Seth Rogen, Zach Galifianakis, and Kristen Wiig.

"Dirty Grandpa" - January 22, 2016 - Zac Efron and Robert de Niro star as grandson and grandfather in this new comedy film. By the looks of this trailer, it could be one of your favorite comedies of 2016.

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" - March 25, 2016 - Your favorite family of Greeks is back together again for yet another family wedding!

"Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" - May 20, 2016 - The plot of "Neighbors 2" is unknown, but we do know that your favorite frat boys, Zac Efron and Dave Franco, are back along with Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen. Also joining the cast are Selena Gomez and Chloe Grace Moretz as two unnamed sorority girls.

"Ghostbusters" - June 15, 2016 - The much anticipated, all-female "Ghostbusters" is finally hitting theaters just in time for Summer. The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. Original Ghostbusters Bill Murray Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson, as well as Sigourney Weaver, are also joining the cast of the new film.

3. Animation - 2016 will be a huge year for animators, but also for Disney with "Finding Dory," "Zootopia," and "Moana."

"Zootopia" - March 4, 2016 - Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman team up in this animated film as unlikely friends who set out to solve a case.

"Finding Dory" - June 17, 2016 - Nemo and his father, Marlin, embark on a journey to find Dory and help her reunite with her parents.

"The Secret Life of Pets" - July 8, 2016 - This adorable animated film stars Louis C.K., Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, and many more. The title is pretty self-explanatory about the plot of the movie.

"Moana" - November 23, 2016 - "Moana" is the story of a young girl (the title character) who goes on a journey to a mystical island with a demigod. Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson provide voices in this animated Disney musical.

4. Fantasy - For the first time in 4 years, we won't be getting a new installment to "The Hunger Games" series. Hopefully, these films below can fill the void.

"The 5th Wave" - January 22, 2016 - Chloe Grace Moretz stars in this sci-fi fantasy in which the end of the world comes about in waves. She is desperate to reunite with her younger brother who has been taken by the mysterious aliens who are attacking.

"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" - March 18, 2016 - If you saw the last Divergent movie, Insurgent, then you'll know that this film is undoubtedly going to be interesting to say the least. They've changed everything from the books which for some may be a blessing if you were displeased with the ending. Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Ansel Elgort all return.

"Star Trek Beyond" - July 22, 2016 - Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, and Zachary Quinto are back for their third Star Trek film which debuts this summer. Here's hoping that no one thinks this is a sequel to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" because we all know that is a possibility.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"- November 18, 2016 - Academy Award winning actor, Eddie Redmayne, stars as Newt Scamander, the future author of the Hogwarts text book which is the film's title. Though, there is no appearance by any Harry Potter characters that we know and love, I have no doubt that this film will do well at the box office.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
