Everyone says you find your real friends in high school, but I don’t think that’s true.

College is definitely where you meet real friends. In college, you’re finding who you are and what you want out of life. In college, you’re able to meet people with the same interests and aspirations as you. It’s important to make friends with people who want the same things you do and can push you to get there. You need people who will push you towards your goal and you push them towards theirs.

During my time at Sam Houston, I’ve met my best friends, and they are incredible.

Most of my friends are Mass Communication majors with different concentrations, but we are so much alike. We all aspire to make a difference in this world by using our voice through journalism and broadcast production.

We’re all aspiring to be news, entertainment, sports, and radio broadcasters. We all help each other grow and learn. We help each other with news packages, podcasts, editing, and even what to text back to the person we’re crushing on. We’re able to understand each other's stress, happiness and every other emotion in between.

When you have a supportive group of friends, you’re able to succeed even more than you thought you could.

Thanks to my friends, I’ve grown so much as a journalist and learned so much from them. They push me to better myself, and I’m able to help them.

Who you hang around reflects who you are. You want friends who are kind, hard-working, trusting, honest, and are an all around good person. I’m thankful that I have friends who have all these qualities and much more.

We always have fun together, whether it be in our organization meetings, filming, editing, doing homework, and acting like fools on game nights and in the car. There’s never a dull moment with my pals, and I couldn’t imagine doing college without them by my side.

Tiara always has us dying laughing, Mackailyn is so dramatic that it gives us life, James is the quiet precious one, Mikaela is so sweet and sassy, and Lizzie is the life of the party who is obsessed with Shrek.

Thank you Sam Houston State for allowing me to meet such wonderful people who I know will be my friends for a lifetime. Thank you to my friends for being the people they are and helping me grow.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
