Young Rising Sons, Hunter Hunted, and Cruisr took stage July 30 at The Waiting Room Lounge right here in Omaha. The crowd was of around 40 people all ranging from the ages of 16 to 30. The atmosphere of the concert was fantastic with the coziness of the venue and the great music. These three bands brought everything and laid it out.
The concert started off with the opening band Cruisr. They really got the crowd pumped for the other two bands. They had the whole crowd singing to their single "All Over' and dancing. However, Cruisir left us wanting more. They got us hooked on their 80’s inspired indie style.
Next up on stage was Hunter Hunted who are an LA based band. This band has a unique sound almost as unique as their name. My favorite part of their performance was when they got off stage and went down with the crowd and shared an acoustic version of their song. How many bands do this? It also proved how amazing their vocal skills were.
Last but not least, the Young Rising Sons took the stage. This band of New Jersey natives got out on stage and gave it 100%. The crowd swooned at their amazing rhythms and lyrics.
Young Rising Sons had the whole venue singing along with them. As the concert came to a close, they sang “I’ll Melt With You” which got the crowd even more pumped. Finally, the band ended the night with their new single. Compared to their performance in Omaha last year, this had to be one of my personal favorite performance of them.
After the excitement, they left the crowd started their way to the merch tables where you could go take a picture with your favorite band of the night. I got to meet both Cruisr and Hunter Hunted. I also got to do a mini interview with Hunter Hunted which was great. They are most down to earth band I have met.
I kind of fan-girled meeting member Morgan Paros, the violinist, because this girl can do anything. She sings and plays about every instrument. I also got to speak with one of the main vocalists, Michael Garner who, by the way, is really nice because he let me interview him.
He told me that he started the band with Dan Chang and later incorporated Morgan Paros and Brian.
When I asked him where they got the inspiration for their songs, he told me that it was all personal. Personal experiences of love, sadness, and happiness really inspired them to write their songs, and they did it for their audience.
When I asked him what he like about Omaha, he said he did not get to go see the whole city but would have loved to. Michael said that he only got to see the Benson area. Also, he shared that he went for a run early that day and about died from how muggy and hot it was.
Overall, he said he enjoyed Omaha and wishes to come back someday. I sadly did not get to speak to the other bands that night because of time, but I hope to get another chance one day.
If you ever get a chance to see them in concert, you must, they are not something you should miss.
