I grant your wish to take advantage of me and dig inside my guts. I'm not actually giving you permission, but with the words I am constantly given. I am falling into this deep incision cut over my heart. You stab me, but somehow I'm numb to this pain. You, of course, thinking we remain the same. I’m used to my naive ways, where I can have fun and potentially feel no pain. But I realize I'm a human, and that my feelings are sustainable as long as I don't use them. But that's hard to do when you constantly abuse them. See I'm already broken, but you chose not to hear the words that are spoken. How could you lust for me this bad, when I capture you with my personality, and blind you with my past? How could you not feel my insecurities when you've been lied to by snakes, and haven't even been cured by this remedy? Are you scared of this love in our site to reach out and grab it and hold it tight? That’s where I think you are: not even trying. Lying and fighting to deny this love you confide in.
We’re young, right? So why we have to rush? Trying to be the goals of the season with my new crush. I don’t know what true love is, but the wait is overdue for it. Conversations run dry, and I see I have a list where my options for the right guy is multiplied. We women want loyalty and consistency, but we constantly meet dudes that lack both of these remedies. Do you remember when I said was heartbroken, and trust is just a word that is spoken?
What about the time where my mother said boys are a distraction and they will leave you blind? See, it's easy to take your hand off the prize. But what about that cute couple here, holding hands and leaving people whispering? Are they dating? I am surprised! What about Jay-Z and Beyonce—everybody thinks they are the number one couple these days. It’s crazy what Instagram can portray.
Either way, here’s what I’m trying to say: go at your own pace, and don’t waste your time with a waste of space. If you're not ready for a relationship, that’s OK. It doesn’t say anything about a boyfriend and girlfriend in the Bible anyway. I remember when I did want to rush, it was those guys I didn't trust. I felt like Taylor Swift singing all those broken-heart love songs. Counting the times I put my all in everything and they didn't. Missing out on fun things, trying to keep up with what's trending.
After all, it’s funny how they do their damage. Months later they see what they had and want plenty of chances. That’s when you are healed, the cycle repeats. Maybe you have gone through this, maybe you haven’t. After all, you find your soulmate, after repeating this habit. Now you are married and in your home, smiling and laughing. Is young love worth it? I can’t be wrong.
