This week, Apple released the updated iOS 9.1 for all their products. The updated operating system is free to download and promised to enhance your day to day experience.

It didn't disappoint, and the new system is helpful, fun, and customizeable.

1. Built-in apps

The built-in News app is perfect for all my fellow journalism majors and news lovers. Your iPhone will curate news articles based off of your interests. It saves time and storage space on your phone, since you won’t have to download a different app for every newspaper.

It works like this: the first time you open the News app, it’ll have a dozens of topics and news outlets for you to pick from. Based off of what you pick, your iPhone will customize articles for you from those areas of interest. The topics range from areas like news and photography to astronomy and science.

The Notes app also got an update. You can now create notes with a bolded title and heading and keep your lists organized with bullet points, dashes, and numbers. Customization is key, because the Notes app's new feature allows you to add photos to your notes, and even draw on them.

2. Emojis

Realistically, this is what everyone is going to use the most. The updated system delivered several long-awaited and requested emojis. Here are some notable ones.

In Smileys & People: the IDGAF shrug with two hands, the buckteeth and glasses, a detective, and several new hand gestures, like the Vulcan Salute and the middle finger.

In Food & Drink: the taco, burrito, champagne bottle, and popcorn.

In Travel & Places: the plane taking off and landing, the yacht, and a notably diverse amount of houses of worship.

Not to mention, there is a new category called Flags with 247 flags from countries around the world.

3. Siri

Siri got a lot more proactive. If you gently tug to the left on your home screen, Siri will have suggestions based off your most used apps and contacts. Plus, Siri now has the nearby feature, which uses your location and tells you the nearby restaurants, bars, shopping places, and gas stations. (Pretty handy for a road tripping, and whenever you're lost in general.)

Siri also got, in my opinion, the best update of all time. If you have an ~unusual~ name, like me, you’ve noticed that Siri can’t say your name correctly. The updated system refined Siri’s skills and capabilities, and added the pronunciation feature for out of the ordinary names and places.

Don't take my word for it, just download the updated iOS 9.1 and experience it for yourself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
