Have you ever heard of the song "You Are More" by Tenth Avenue North? Whether the answer was yes or no, I want to encourage you to listen to the song before continuing on. This video has the lyrics so you know what is being said.
A big thing that we face in this world today is labels and stereotypes. I am here to tell you that it's a bunch of crap. You don't need to be labeled because you have big breasts, play sports or you're in the band. You don't need to be grouped into a stereotype because you're involved in a fraternity/sorority, a member of the LGBT committee or believe in a certain religion. Everyone deserves a shot in this world, and everyone is worth something.
Labels and stereotypes may be a big thing in this world, but so is abuse. In schools, we sugarcoat abuse by calling it bullying. But the truth is bullying is verbal and physical abuse. Whether you are labeled, grouped into a stereotype or been abused, there is no doubt you have felt a sense of being worthless, unloved, alone and weak.
I also know that sometimes we beat ourselves up because of the image that everyone has created for us. Don't believe it. You are terrific and great and you need to recognize that. Don't let other idiots who don't see your worth win a fight that they shouldn't be a part of.
I am here to tell you that your past mistakes, actions, religious affiliations, family, friends, abuse, problems and whatever else may bring you down does not in any way make you worthless, unloved, alone or weak.
You have a purpose in this world. You are strong, powerful, worthy and loved. Just because it feels like you can't do anything right for your family or your friends doesn't mean that it should define you.
You are more than your past mistakes. You are more than your actions. You are more than people criticizing you and shutting you out because of your religious affiliations. You are more than your family making fun of you. You are more than your friends bringing you down. You are more than the abuse you endured. You are more than the problems that have arose in your life.
You are so much more than what this world makes you out to be. Don't let other people and the past define who you are. Don't let them bring you down. There is so many greater things in life than the pain you are experiencing. Hold on, because your time for glory is coming. You are going to shine so bright and prove all of those people wrong.
