You Are What You Drink

On any given night, most Greek students can be spotted at Campus Corner bars. Each bar offers specific drinks to cater to the particular type of person that frequents their establishments. There is a bar with a drink that is sure to satisfy your tastes for all of-age students at OU!

Chimy’s Dr. Pepper Shootout. Most of the time, these drinks are a part of a competition, so it is not unusual to see a group of fraternity boys racing to be the first one finished with their Shootout.

Seven47’s Adios. Seven47 serves as Campus Corner’s socialite scene. For most Greeks, it is the go-to destination that is the place to see and be seen. Adios is a small blue drink that is sure to kick off your night right. Typically, the Adios is consumed by stereotypical srat stars dressed in floral rompers, Tory Burch bags and nude wedges. Guys, if you are looking to pick-up this type of girl, buy her this drink and you may find some success. If you are looking to really impress the typical Seven47 srat star, buy a champagne sparkler.

Logie’s Chuck Norris Bomb. Logie’s has an eclectic crowd ranging from ages roughly 21 to 55. While Logie’s is known for their $2 shots, the Chuck Norris Bomb may be more expensive, but it’s worth the extra cash. Chuck Norris Bomb drinkers definitely fit the Logie’s persona. Logie’s traits include OU apparel with cargos, dancing with or without a partner, and being overly forward toward the opposite sex. If you are a typical Chuck Norris Bomb drinker, you may accompany this shot with a Menthol while swiping left on Tinder in the hazy back bar.

BirdsNest’s Cigar. Birdsnest is usually off the radar for typical Greek students; however, it is a great place to go if you’re looking to lounge with a cigar in hand. A cigar clearly is not an alcoholic beverage because, even though BirdsNest has a pretty nice bar, most goers will sip on a glass of scotch to chase down their cigar. Be prepared to be amongst graduate students, law students, and possibly your TA, sitting on the black couches in the dark corners.

O’Connell’s Long Island Iced Tea. O’Connell’s biggest day for Greeks is Wednesday Night Karaoke. Because most Wednesday night goers are saving up for the weekend, and looking to gain some courage to sing onstage, they prefer the biggest bang for their buck -- a Long Island Iced Tea. The LIT drinker will go from sober, to singing the remix to Ignition with a brand new group of friends, by midnight. A word to the wise -- do not drink an LIT if you are looking to make it to your 9 a.m. Thursday morning class.

Sugar’s Pitcher of Bud Light. Did you have this pitcher to yourself? No one will ever know.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
