I don't know about you, but for me it is getting to that point in the semester where you just want to quit. The homework has piled up, and you're exhausted, stressed. It is so easy to begin to lose motivation when you are taking on a ton of coursework and trying to juggle it all on your own: work, school, social life, sleep. It is literally impossible to balance all of those things out... On your own. It is so easy to let yourself go through your daily routine and forget the most important thing: God is there with you, and He doesn't want you to do this all on your own. He knows you are tired and stressed, and He wants you to lean on Him and ask for help. There is no point in being exhausted when you can literally just hand everything over to God. You weren't made to do all of this on your own.
I find myself forgetting to look to Jesus in times of chaos (which seems like every single day). Here are ten verses that I look to when I need to take a step back and say, "Alright God, I can't do this alone. I need Your help."
1. "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." - Deuteronomy 31:8
2. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27
3. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” - Philippians 4:6
4. “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall”- Psalm 55:22
5. "For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." - Romans 8:6
6. "He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17
7. 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
8. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:25-34
9. "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:6-7
10. "But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." - Isaiah 40:31
Remember, you weren't made to do all of this alone. You don't have to go through your day being exhausted and stressed all the time. It is okay to ask for help. That isn't a sign of weakness. Look to the Lord, because He wants to go through this life with you.
