You left without a goodbye

Going on into the night sky

I didn't get an "I love you"

Not even an "I'll see you"

I wanted it all to be a lie

You left without a goodbye


Through promises broken

You left my heart all torn open

I begged please let them be lying

In hopes that my tears, they could be drying

All I could do was sit and cry

You left without a goodbye


Am I being selfish

Because all I can do is wish

That it was all a bad dream

Come back and send my eyes agleam

I sit around and ask "Why"

You left without a goodbye


You left without a goodbye

You couldn't hear me cry

You didn't hear me beg

"Please, just take me instead"

Someday I'll learn to live and let lie

You left without a goodbye

Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
