You Know You're An Alpha Delta Pi If...
Tristan Mautz

Here are 10 things all Alpha Delta Pi ladies know to be true!

1. POP TABS.....EVERYWHERE:

It's no secret that the women of Alpha Delta Pi are relentlessly gathering pop tabs for our beloved philanthropy! From begging our families to collect them, pulling them off of abandoned cans at social events, and recruiting our friends to gather them, our backpacks, purses, pockets, laundry, and cars are overwhelmed with pop tabs and we wouldn't have it any other way!

2. Every lion is an Alphie:

Even Simba is now, Alphie, and every ADPi girl has a love for our cherished mascot. Because let's face it..it's hard to be humble when you are queen of the jungle!

3. You know how to expertly throw what we know:

It never fails. Every picture you hear, "PUT YOUR THUMBS DOWN" or "LEFT OVER RIGHT", as if us diamonds need it! ;)

4. You have said, "Will you live for me?" before asking a sister for something:

"We live for each other" is our open motto and we all take it seriously, but is definitely a cute way to ask a sister for a favor or to let a sister know we just need a little extra living for!

5. YOU LOVE EUGENIA:

Every sorority loves their founder(s), but Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald started it all back in Macon, Georgia and ADPi's have a special place in their hearts for the woman who made it possible for us sisters to run home to Alpha Delta Pi.

6. You have a section in your closet dedicated to Orange and Camo:

Mallard Ball is a tradition for ADPi and even if you have never been hunting in your life you are well prepared to get {ducked} out for the celebration of duck hunting season!

7. You have ever had to explain what an "Alpha" is:

WE LOVE OUR ALPHAS!!! However, we don't love it when we explain it and someone responds, "Oh so a pledge." No not a pledge...a valuable member of our sisterhood who is beginning her journey!

8. Two words, "Boom Boom":

From open day as PNM's to our last days we will never forget that song and can't help but burst out into our famously catchy door chant as soon as somebody mentions it!

9. You hold a special place in your heart for RMHC:

Whether you have been helped by the charity as a child or have only been a volunteer, the Ronald McDonald House is a place you hold near and dear to your heart. What this charity does for families across the nation is simply amazing and we all work hard to help through philanthropy events and volunteering!

10. You know it's not just four years...it's forever:

We don't say, "First. Finest. Forever." for nothing! I remember crying happy tears when I opened my bid letter and finally got to run home! I have met so many sisters from many generations who share a love and sense of commitment to our sisterhood. The friendships and love I have experienced in this sisterhood is something I will hold onto for the rest of my life!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
