You Know It's Almost Summer When...

As I head into my senior year, I can't help but realize that this is the last summer I will ever have in my collegiate career. On that note I began to think of things that reminded me that summer is here! So without further ado, here are twelve signs that summer is right around the corner.

You know it's almost summer when...

1. You move back in with your parents.

When I think of summer, I think of family. For me, summer means moving back home and finding an internship in the Chicago area. It means a nice house, fully-stocked fridge and getting to chill with my parents and siblings

2.Getting to see your high school friends again

While is it sad to leave your college buds behind, you know summer is almost here when your old group message from high school starts blowing up again.

3. You start getting asked "What you are doing this summer?" more times than you care to answer

If I had a dollar for how many times I have been asked that in the past month... the sheer panic that takes over is intense. All you want to do is enjoy your summer! So for those of us who are still unsure of our summer plans, this question is the worst.

4. The weather is irrational and different every single day

You know summer is almost here when one day it will be 70's and sunny and the next day it will be 40's and raining. It is as if before the weather can have beautiful summer days, it needs to figure its stuff out.

5.The amount of stress due to people having finals is higher than ever

With summer comes the end of the school year, which means endless hours of studying and finishing up those 20-page research papers. There are constant FB posts and tweets about the stress level of your fellow classmates. It is like a right of passage before you get the summer off.

6. Memorial Day plans become relevant

Before May, nobody cares about Memorial Day, but as the kick off of summer, this weekend becomes more and more important.

7. Wedding season is on high rise

If it's summer and you don't get invited to at least one wedding -- it is even really summer?

8. Insects begin to appear... everywhere

Say what you will about winter, but at least there are almost no bugs. As the weather gets nicer, bees, flies and other flying insect grace us with their presence.

9. You have a break (whether it is two days or two weeks) before responsibilities start again

The best part about the beginning of summer is the calm before whatever you have planned that summer begins. It is a time period of chilling with your dogs, waking up at 11 A.M., getting coffee with your mom and having no responsibilities.

10. People keep talking about swimsuit season

While this is not one of my favorite subjects, you know it is almost summer when people begin discussing swimsuit trends and the dreaded "beach bod."

11. "Game of Thrones" comes back on TV

To me, one of the best things about summer is getting to spend it with my favorite people -- Jon Snow, the Khalessi and Tyrion. As one of the best shows on TV, it is a welcome addition to the beginning of summer.

12. You feel relaxed and remember all the amazing things that summer brings

Thank you sumer for letting all enjoy three months of happy weather, good friends, and lots and lots of joy.

Happy almost summer to you all!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
