Hey you, this one's for you.

Trust Me, You Are More Than Enough
thethingswesay.com

If you are reading this post, there is something I want you to know: You are more. I know you don’t believe it, I know you think I don’t even know you or your situation, but it is still true. You are more.

More than your situation.

More than your flaws.

More than your failures.

More than your weaknesses.

More than your insecurities.

More than your dreams.

More than your talents.

More than your strengths.

More than your personality.

More than your looks.

More than your grades.

More than your titles.

More than your job.

More than your money.

You are more than all those things combined. What defines you is more than just who you are, it is who you are in Christ.

When he looks at you, he doesn’t see just those things. He sees you complete, wholly. He sees your heart. He knows you and He loves you deeply. In Him, your weaknesses are made into strengths, and in Him, your failures are turned into successes. In Him, you are more than your outer beauty or what people think of you. You have depth; you are more.

And you are the person who needs to realize that. You need to see yourself the way Christ sees you. You can stop saying, “I am just …” because you aren’t. Whatever the word you put there is, it isn’t all that you are. You are complex. You are uniquely knitted together, thought out, desired and valuable. You were created in the image of God with purpose. Every part of you reflects his design, and all together you reflect his glory.

But you have to live like that. You have to live like you are unique. You have to live like you were made for his glory. You can’t sell out to the words you think you are. You have to know what Christ says, and you have to live like it. You cannot let the devil’s lies control who you are.

One of his greatest weapons is convincing you that you aren’t who God has called you to be.

That isn’t to say there isn’t room to grow, or that there isn’t sin that needs to be repented of. But what I am saying is, that if you are trying, you are on the right track. You can celebrate who you are in Christ even now, because you are a work in progress. You aren’t finished yet. You have so much more in store for you. That is the very reason why you should have hope.

You are:

A friend of Jesus. (John 15:15)

A child of God. (John 1:12)

Redeemed. (Romans 3:24)

Free. (Romans 8:2)

Accepted. (Romans 15:7)

A saint. (1 Corinthians 1:2)

An heir. (Romans 8:17).

Blessed. (Ephesians 1:3).

Chosen. (Ephesians 1:4).

Forgiven. (Ephesians 1:7)

Alive. (Ephesians 2:4-5)

Bold. (Ephesians 3:12)

Confident. (Ephesians 3:12)

Complete. (Colossians 2:10)

Loved. (Colossians 3:12)

Valuable. (Psalm 139:14)

New. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Powerful. (Mark 16:17-18)

Enough. (Philippians 4:19)

A doer. (James 1:22)

An overcomer. (Revelation 12:11)

Called. (Psalm 66:8)

Full of kindness. (Colossians 3:12)

Full of mercy. (Colossians 3:12)

Humble. (Colossians 3:12)

Through Christ you are all of these things and more. He wants to tell you and show you. Pick up your bible, and find out for yourself.

You, my friend, are worth knowing who you are.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
