You are God's choice.

Dear Girls,

Sisters. Maybe one day daughters and granddaughters.

To those cooing with pink bows in your hair, sucking on your tiny little fingers, and those just old enough to watch the TV and remember girls dressed in pink waving "my vagina, my choice" signs in the world behind the screen.

I just want you to know...

Don't feel like you have to let anyone touch you.

They don't have to.

Don't feel ashamed of who you are when men tear you with their sharp, unwavering eyes at gas stations, supermarkets, and even at the post office.

Don't blush when you're too weak to carry your groceries, and don't flush when you're so strong you can carry as much as you want.

Don't ever want to be a boy--not because boys are anything less--but because you're made just how God chose: a girl.

Don't feel like you have to stop reading this because your friends don't believe in God.

You don't have to listen to people when they tell you you're not worth anything. So why do you have to fear your friends when they say you are?

Just...

There are going to be days when you look at yourself and hate everything that looks back.

You'll hate your skin.

Your tummy, your neck.

Your hair.

Your mouth.

Hands, eyes, fingers.

Yet imagine a God, Who created everything making you.

He chose to bring you--you--into the world, and you are created in His image. If He wanted you to be a boy, what would have stopped him?

But no, He chose you to be a girl. He chose you to even exist.

Awe, God.

Well, girl, now you're born and now you have a uterus.

Yeah, you've seen some sharpie drawing of one on a poster at the rally. It must be something special.

Well, it is.

And if God ever chooses to put a baby in it, just remember that you were God's choice.

He chose to bless your mother's womb

Girls,

Sisters. Maybe one day daughters and granddaughters.

You are alive because God chose to create you.

In His image.

You are God's choice.

And if God chooses to create life in you.

How blessed you are.

Do feel like you want to wave signs in a park if someone wants to take that life away.

But please, whatever you do,

Don't be waving a sign because you want to extinguish that life yourself.

Simply because it's in you.

You are God's choice. And He makes no mistakes.

He made you a girl.

You are God's choice.

You are a girl.

You are God's choice.

God's choice.

God's choice.

Girl.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
