Medical marijuana has been a controversial topic in the past few years, and it's clear that marijuana holds many health benefits. Many commercials and social media sites have been against it, saying it is a gateway drug, but that is not true. This mindset is being implanted into others because it is helpful in more ways then not. Researchers themselves would be out of work because if there's a cure for cancer, there would be no need for cancer research. As stated by Dr. Dennis Antoine, cancer is "the biggest moneymaker of all time", and profiteers of the illness don’t want a cure.
This isn't fair to anyone in society for many reasons. Recent studies have shown that marijuana has medical benefits for those with glaucoma, back pain, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Crohn's, Alzheimer's, drug addiction and Parkinson's disease. Among other things that marijuana could treat, cancer is the most impressive. Scientists and doctors have proven that marijuana reverses the growth of cancer cells in the human body. It also acts as a natural pain reliever to those going through chemotherapy, rather than the dangerous chemicals they are prescribed. Medical marijuana has been a controversial topic in the past few years, and it's clear that marijuana holds many health benefits. Many studies prove that marijuana ingestion can treat or cure cancer, and while marijuana is used to lessen the pain of cancer, doctors aren't using it as a cure.
Marijuana is much less harmful than both cigarettes and alcohol. Marijuana is not as addictive as the nicotine in cigarettes, nor does it contain any of the dangerous carcinogens that cigarettes have. Cigarettes produce a ridiculous amount of tar that builds up in the smoker's lungs. Depending on the method of ingestion, marijuana provides little to no tar, that may cause lung damage. Although the effects of marijuana can also be achieved by eating, drinking, or vaporizing the herb, even smoking it is not as harmful as smoking a cigarette. Not only is marijuana safer than cigarettes, but it is also safer than alcohol. Alcohol is one of the nation's most profitable thing to be ingested, but it is more addictive than marijuana, and more damaging to the body as well. There should be no issue right? If alcohol and cigarettes can be legal, so can a healthy herb such as this one.
Politically, people are getting more comfortable with the idea of marijuana being legal. In this most recent election, Massachusetts, Nevada, California, and Maine legalized marijuana for recreational use, and Arkansas, Florida, and North Dakota approved medical marijuana use. Voters and officials are now making more educated decisions that will benefit America as a whole. Marijuana is making a positive difference in people's lives, and although it is not legal everywhere, it should be.
