Hello again!
We've reached the dreaded part of the semester where everything that you do in the next two week matters
— and it matters a lot. Since finals week is approaching, I have noticed several habits from myself and other students that indicate it is almost here. Here are a few ways to tell that finals week is upon us.
1. You begin calculating your grades to see what you have to get on the final to get your desired grade in the course.
I am so insanely guilty of this one. You have to keep your thoughts realistic during this time — and by realistic, I mean the minimum grade that you can receive to pass.
2. You begin studying so much that you actually think that you are going crazy.
Here's to the next couple weeks of studying so much that you actually forget to do important tasks like sleeping, showering, and eating.
3. You start compromising on your goals and plans.
You realize that you need a specific class to continue your education. Then you realize that there is no way that you are going to pass the class. You realize that there are more realistic goals of finals than the picture below...
4. You are studying somewhere and another student begins to have a total meltdown.
You understand exactly how they feel and sort of laugh it off. Then a couple of hours later, you are going through the same thing.
5. You receive your exam, look at the first question, and instantly know that you did not prepare as well as you should have.
The picture below is an exact representation of the way that I perform on an exam when I am insanely stressed out.
6. As finals progress, you begin getting less and less sleep.
Because sleep is for the weak, right? No. Sleep is for those who actually tried their hardest throughout the semester.
6. You begin looking up study tips that you are actually going to adhere by this time.
This happens to me before every semester. I start to figure out new methods of studying and I just always end up in the same boat again.
7. You start seeing posts like this on social media and you cannot risk it, so you post it at well.
Yes, you know that it is absolutely ridiculous. No, you cannot just scroll past something that is this important.
8. You start studying for a final and you go back to your notes from the beginning of the semester.
Accurate representation of me this week. Here's to the endless amount of nights that I will spend re-learning the material from earlier in the semester.
9. You begin to figure out if there is some way that you can get your professor to give you extra credit.
I can give you some tears, will that work? But in reality, nothing will ever be able to get you more credit at the end of the semester.
10. You finally turn your last exam of the semester and you just...
May the odds be ever in your favor. Summer will be here soon! Hold on tight. I believe in you!
Loyally,
Jamie
