Oh, fall. The REAL most wonderful time of the year. Autumn is a season of foliage, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice, and even state fairs. Whether it's a football game or costume shopping, the fall festivities never end. Once a year when the time for corn mazes, jack o lanterns, and candy corn comes around, we go crazy. All those cute Halloween Pinterest ideas become a reality and there are pumpkins galore. The spirit of this season is unlike any other time of year.
Now, let's be honest. If you're one of those people who think fall is overrated, you're just plain wrong. Have you never had pumpkin spice anything? Have you never felt the cool fall breezes that blow kaleidoscopes of red, orange, and yellow leaves into a frenzy? How could someone not love scary movie marathons and sweater weather? There's so much to do, so much to see and so many reasons to appreciate the beauty that is fall. Those spooky Halloween classics that you've watched a thousand times never get old and the apple cider never gets cold.
All this cozy, cuddly stuff is great but we can't forget what fall is really about....football! If you don't look forward to football season, you're definitely crazy. No one walks around saying, "Did you see that insane tennis match yesterday? Man, I love spring!" We throw football parties, wear jerseys, and if we're lucky we get to go to a game and watch our favorite team play. Monday night football is an American tradition that happens every year. We love football, we love Friday night lights, and we love supporting our team, whether it's from the stands or from the couch.
Yet another fall festivity we all enjoy (for whatever reason) is the fear. Why do we love being scared so much? Halloween is a unique holiday filled with terror and candy. What a combination, right? When you think about it, the concept is actually quite strange...we literally pay other people to dress up in spine-chilling, hair-raising costumes and make us scream our brains out. Nevertheless, people flock to haunted houses, hayrides, & mazes in extensive numbers year after year.
From the fairs to the fear, it's clear that Autumn is pretty much the best season ever. So go ahead, hate on pumpkin spice. But don't forget all the great aspects of fall that make it so special. I dare you to grab a cup of hot cider & a blanket, pop in a Halloween movie and not have a good time.
