I’ve done nothing this week but watch 90210. I have barely studied, I’ve barely slept, all I can do is watch these high school kids in Beverly Hills live their dramatic, luxurious lives nonstop. In fact, I’m literally watching it on my phone in front of my computer as I type this paper out. (Someone help!)
I figured now, since this is my new life, I wanted to write about something that bugs me slightly from the show; that something being all of the dating between friends that goes on. Seriously it’s like they lock eyes with one of their friends for more than two seconds and fall in love immediately.
So I thought I’d list all of the relationships that don’t make sense to me so far in the show. Granted, I’m only in the middle of the third season, but really they’ve already dated everyone and I can only imagine what’s more to come for the next two seasons.
1. Naomi and Ethan
Okay so first couple, the stars of the show, (well at least momentarily for Ethan, I hope he’s doing well in Montana.) I get why they dated - they were the most popular and most attractive out of the bunch of friends but I hardly see the connection. Okay they have history, okay they’ve grown up together and will ‘always love each other’ but it’s too typical. I don’t buy it and I don’t approve. Good thing it didn’t last long.
2. Silver and Ethan
They technically never officially dated but they did kiss and it was enough to break her and Dixon up for good. Honestly, he looked at her and suddenly decided she was the one. No previous connection, no real reason for the attraction, just random and unnecessary plot.
3. Annie and Jasper
This couple is different, not because there isn’t chemistry per se, but Jasper is not an okay person and their relationship was built on lies and blackmail. It was creepy how he knew she killed his uncle and used that to his advantage to date her. What the heck dude!
4. Adrianna and Gia
I am all about lesbian couples but this one really disappointed me. I guess they had good chemistry but in about two episodes it was done because Gia cheated immediately after the two of them got in one small fight. Why throw that all away in one hot second? After that we never see Gia again. I guess I’m more upset that they didn’t expand on this relationship, wasted potential.
5. Ivy and Dixon
Are you serious? Don't let this picture fool you, it's not this cute. This couple has the least amount of chemistry I’ve seen yet. It’s awkward, it’s fake, I feel no love. When they confessed their love for each other it was like swallowing sand. I don’t know why they had to force this relationship, why . . . just why?
6. Debbie and Ryan
I’m just sort of uncomfortable with it. I love Mr. Matthews okay, he’s the English teacher I always dreamed of having and Debbie kicks ass when she needs to but together they make a weird mixture. I want a couple that makes sense, and they don’t make much sense to me. Just 'cause two people are single doesn’t mean they are compatible. I don’t know, I can’t support this.
7. Silver and Navid
So Navid has loved Adrianna since middle school right, and all of a sudden he shares one look and hug with Silver after having some family issues and all those years of love and suffering are thrown away? He’s allegedly “crazy” about Silver after two episodes of them pining over each other in secret. This one is outrageous because after all of the insane crap Navid and Adrianna went through, pregnancy, drugs, cheating, all of it, Navid is still able to fall for Silver out of the blue. Nobody’s loyal these days.
8. Mr. Cannon and Life
Mr. Cannon is a horrible human being and I don’t support him being alive. It doesn’t seem fair or natural. He’s disgusting, insane and did I already say disgusting? End him please.
