Everyone has their favorite place. Whether it be somewhere just down the road, or in a third world country, each person has a location that they can happily call their “home away from home."
For me, this place is Daytona Beach, Florida. Ever since I was a baby, literally a baby of 18 months old, my family has been going there. There are a plethora of reasons as to why I love this place so much, but I will boil it down to just a few, because the list truly could go on forever.
First of all, the beach. I mean, who doesn’t love the ocean? Nothing compares to the waves hitting the shore and the sand on your feet, it is a beautiful and peaceful thing. Daytona Beach is known for its hard-packed sand beach, which makes it ideal for driving on. Many years back, Daytona hosted motor races on the beach up until 1959 when it was replaced with the well-known Daytona International Speedway. If you are into NASCAR, Daytona is definitely a place you want to visit.
Secondly, anyone who has been to Daytona knows that it is home to some incredible restaurants and hang outs. The Main Street Pier and Boardwalk holds many great places to eat as well as fun things to do. Eat dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack on the Pier, visit the Ocean Walk Shops, or you may even be lucky enough to see someone perform at the Bandshell Amphitheater. As far as restaurants go, my personal favorite is the Ocean Deck. Not only do they have some of the best food in Daytona, but it is also located right on the beach, so the ambiance is quite relaxing.
Main Street is definitely a place to check out in Daytona Beach as well. The reason my family has been coming to Daytona for so long is specifically for Bike Week, and let me tell you, Main Street during Bike Week is something everyone should experience, even if you are not into motorcycles. There are tons of events that go on all throughout the week, and the people watching is not bad either.
For me, Daytona is a place where I can enjoy my family, and I look forward to going every single year. My favorite part about this place is waking up in the morning and seeing the sunrise over the ocean, there is really nothing quite like it. I have so many memories at this amazing place, and I encourage everyone else to go check it out too. There is something for everyone at the World’s Most Famous Beach.
