Did you notice how I wrote “Oh World”, and not “Oh God”. Why offend people in the beginning when you can offend them throughout the article. This being said, this article contains a lot of ideas, remarks, situations, and maybe profanity. I am not sure about the last bit. So, if you do get offended easily, do not read.
In the wake of the recent mass shooting in an Orlando club, I have been thinking of some stuff. Not saying I never thought about these situations before, but today I just decided not to be lazy.
It was an extremely bad day for people in that club. And not just them, but their families, the people nearby as well. To be honest, if you ask me, it was a bad day for humanity. Not just bad, but a very sad day. A very embarrassing day.
I have a few things I would like to say, as we progress to mourn and recover from this horrendous experience.
**Disclaimer: This article is not particular to the shootings, but more of a general piece.
First, I would really want to ask people to not only mourn for the victims of this recent mass shooting, but also for all those human beings who identify themselves as homo-sexual, and were/are beaten, killed, verbally hurt, and discriminated against. A lot of times it doesn’t even get reported. And that is sad. Everyone deserves respect, and we need to keep all the victims in our prayers/ thoughts.
Second, I just personally think we are giving too much attention to the culprit here. No, I don’t want to share his photo on social media, once he is caught. No, I don’t want to make statuses about him, because he doesn’t deserve it. No, I don’t want to bring him to the limelight, because he lost that right, when he decided to act like a savage animal. I understand that people mean good when they share, and converse about the culprits. But what we need to realize is that the shooter (in the Orlando case) is not the problem. The hindrance comes from the mentality, and the problem is that a lot of people share that very same, and sometimes more serious versions of that thinking. What we need to spread is why this is wrong, and why people should be more accepting.
Third, the attack was done by terrorists. Not Muslims, not Asians, not Europeans. There was an attack which was committed by terrorists. We need to stop stereotypes. When a person commits an act like this, he/she gives up the right to be from a religion. No matter what reason they use. They are plain terrorists. And we need to start treating them that way. When there is a fire lit, you do not add more gas to it. If you don’t get that metaphor, I will simplify it for you. If you talk about a terrorist, you talk about them. You do not point fingers at religions. We have seen terrorists from every place in the world, U.S, Asia, Middle East, Europe. Who’s left to blame after this. Antarctica? We cannot blame the penguins. They slip even while walking. Just normal walking, and there goes a penguin. Face Plant. These criminals towards humanity only follow one religion, and that is terrorism.
Fourth, we need to work together to solve this. Start by doing little things. And frankly why even “do” things. Just be polite, and treat everyone fairly. Seriously, that is it. Everyone needs to just chill for a second. I have some friends who identify themselves as a part of the LGBT community, and do I treat them badly, NO. Do I make a point to treat them extra nicely or feel extra welcome, NO. Because that’s not what I need to do, or anyone for that matter. I treat them equally. And by that I mean, just like I would treat anyone else. I don’t make them feel extra special, because they are not. They are just normal human beings like us. Well not like all of us, because there are people like Trump and the terrorists now a day. Little things matter, and they have always done. I just personally think, we need to keep working together, and try our best to let others know that we need to stop acting like animals.
Fifth, we need to realize not everything can be controlled. I have some friends who get so furious about such discrimination against the LGBT community. Even though they have their heart at the right place, they are bat-shit crazy. People need to realize the 100% of the population will never change. Neither will 90% or 80%. But, we need to try to change just enough to bring a change in the human behavior. You cannot help when someone hates something. I hate The Hunger Games trilogy. Books and movies. And a lot of people will fight me on this. But that’s just what it is, and it will not change. Same way, you might be able to change some mentalities around the world, but you will not be able to do that for everyone. So, accept that. We all need to. And now the question. What can we do, if not change everyone’s mentality? Well, you can make sure they know that drastic and hurtful measures are not options. Okay, you don’t like their choices! Keep it to yourself. We will never be able to get everyone to believe that everyone is just the same, and they just have choices. And everybody is equal. What we can do is let them know such acts are not permitted, and there will be consequences. That we stand by our fellow humans; at all times.
Now, I know I have used some very generic, and low risk examples as comparison above. But, that is the point. Why don’t we take help from really small things happening in our regular life? Isn’t that how behavior is studied.
Also all the views, remarks, comments, ideas in this article are my own. So, again if you’re offended, well okay then. I asked you not to read further. But hey, no profanity. Brownie points for that.
Let’s make sure we all work together to make sure we stand properly without bending our knees.
Let’s make sure we stand for each other. Because that’s what humanity constitutes of.
Let’s make sure we start making progress in equality as we have done in science.

It was a sad day for us. It was a sad for humanity.
About damn time, we start realizing the actual problem, and act on it.
And as always stand right next to each other. Build a wall. (Like Game of Thrones)
