Anger. Strife. Fear. Hunger. Judgment. The world we see in the headlines today is a world corrupt with darkness and seems all to forgotten in the chaos of the universe. Remain hopeful and see the light, our universe was not of a spontaneous chance. Our universe was created and crafted by hand. Our world is nothing simple, but rather a complexity that is both beautiful and intricate in its design. Yet, it is ravished with death and decay. What happened turn something so bright and full of love into the very image of darkness and hate?
Man happened. Remember the first major news story past creation was the fall of man. Man and woman stole their claim to fame by sin. From the moment Eve entertained the thought of being more powerful than God, we lost. A peaceful world was no more and chaos was truly born.
So, what are we to hold fast to? What do we as Christians do when we see the struggle and the hopelessness of the world around us? We remember that nothing the enemy has done was without God knowing. God does not sit in heaven and wonder what will become of the world. God did not create the universe and everything down to the tiny blades of grass to see it all wilt away without giving him glory. This chaos, this emptiness we feel when we gaze into the news is not the end.
When look at world around us we should feel pain and sorrow, so much so that we cannot help but embrace who we are redeemed to be and see the good news and the end. Thank the Lord that we do not claim victory out of our efforts. If that were to be the case, then hopelessness would be accurate. But there is hope. There is a savior who has already won. There is a Father who sees his children sacrificing their lives to stand up to defend His name to the lost. There is a creator who saw the earthly battles at the very moment He set the universe into motion. There is a reason the scriptures cry,
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1: 9
What sweeter words could ever be whispered over your soul?
When terrorists seem to reign in the world of fear, remember that fear was NOT created by God. Fear is of the enemy and will be crushed. When you watch the news and see threats of gun removal, remember that we have the greatest weapon in any battle: Christ. He has already won the war and there is no place for fear in the celebration of that victory. There is only room for celebration and the claiming of that victory. It is time that we no longer cower in the fear of the enemy and rather make the enemy cower in fear of the Living God. He does not hide himself, but rather is all around and all enveloping. Let us claim the presence and blessings promised.
“From this day on I will bless you.” – Haggai 2: 19
Today is the day to no longer fear the stories we are surrounded by, but find comfort in the story that started it all: the story of a Father who loves His children.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” – 1 John 3:1
