Are you that lucky person, like me, that is working in the retail field? Are you also that person, like me, who can’t wait to get out of retail? Not that working retail is hard, but sometimes it is a very stressful job, dealing with mad customers and crazy hours. In retail, you deal with the most customers, and you deal with them ALL DAY. While, you, the customer, thinks all we do all day is hang clothes on a rack, and ring up purchases, take a look into what we really have to deal with.

How I Met Your Mother ended 3 years ago, but it describes this situation perfectly!

Here are some struggles that only retail workers understand:

1. When the customer demands to speak to the manager

You explain to them something they don’t want to hear because it’s policy and there is nothing you can do about it, but they still demand to speak with the manager. Then the manager tells them the exact thing you told them….

2. When they ask you if you have more of that in the back or can you order one for them?

No, we don’t. We can’t control what the distributor/headquarters gives us. Or when it will be back in stock.

3. When your manager asks you to take your break later because a lot of customers came in, but you are starving now…

4. When you do get to take your break, but it’s busy season and you want more time…

5. When your boss asks if you can stay longer…

6. When your co-workers become your friends, and then they leave for another job, and you’re stuck all alone and miserable again….

7. When you explain something to a customer for the 10th time and they still don’t get it…

(Newsflash: They get it, they just don’t like it, so they pretend they don’t get it.)

8. When you are helping a customer and they tell you they’re whole life story instead of just asking where an item is, or a question…

9. When it’s slow season, and you did everything you could, and there’s no customers….

10. That one customer that just ruins your day….

11. When you know it’s your last customer of the day, and suddenly become happy again!

12. When your boss tells you you can go home early

13. I think this sums it up pretty much…

14. When the customers says that your job must be really easy, and they could do it…

Ha, I want to see you try…

15. When that one customer comes in, and is extremely nice/ good looking/ understanding/ doesn’t need help/ all of the above…

Can you relate to any of these? Do you have any more struggles that I didn’t mention?

Good luck! We’re all in this together!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
