Let's face it, we all want summer bodies. We want that super-model swimsuit look the second the temperature raises and June begins. I'll tell you what none of us want, however; to work out. That's not saying people don't like working out, I know there are many people out there who love to. Personally, working out is a major stress release for me and once I'm in the process of running at the track or working out at the gym I'm very happy being here. The big issue I have, and I'm sure most people have as well, is getting myself there in the first place and making time for it. The summer is such a fleeting season, it goes by like the blink of an eye (especially because it's everyone's favorite time of year ) and its almost impossible to fit in everything you want to do. If you, or anyone you know have the daily struggle of wanting to get that workout in but are having a hard time fitting it into your schedule, here are some helpful pieces of advice that get me there. They may not always work for getting in a full-on workout but they will definitely help you get your heart rate up at least once a day!
Bring a workout buddy
It could be your friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, sister, brother, mom, dad, anyone that has a similar goal as you. Having a partner with you not only holds you accountable to workout because you've made plans, but it also makes it more fun when you have someone to pass the time with.
Set a goal
Determine what part of your body you really want to improve, whether it's your arms, abs, or entire body and set a goal for yourself. It could be a 3 month long goal, month long, or a week long goal, and then find workouts to fit your body. I personally love finding workout challenges online, all you have to do is Google a workout challenge for the body part you're targeting and you'll find ranges between one week and one year. Track your progress, too, so you can see your results!
Put an alarm in your phone
If you set an alarm every day at a time that you know you'll be home, you'll remember to get your workout in. I find the best time to be right when I wake up or an hour before I get ready for bed. This way I can start off my day or end my day on a good note that I'm proud of.
Find some inspiration
There's nothing wrong with finding some photo inspiration of someone who has a body that you're hoping to mirror one day. Finding that inspiration can make all the difference in sending you some motivation after a long day of work or class, so put a picture on your phone or in your car or in your gym bag as a reminder of what you're working towards.
Just do it!
I'm going to steal Nike's line here, but if working out and staying/getting fit is really what you want, then just go out and do it. The motivation truly does have to come from within. Summer is a very busy time but you have the ability to make time for you body and your lifestyle because that should always be a first priority!
