Dr. Phil

Dr. Phil has been one of televisions most beloved talk show hosts and tv personalities of the new millennium. Through his efforts to bring people and families together while attempting to overcome the stigma of mental illness, he has provided comforting yet motivational words to the public. Make no mistake, he won't beat around the bush; he'll tell you exactly like it is. Yet his primary goal is making life a little more manageable for those willing to work for their happiness. Here are just a few wise words as provided by Dr. Phil McGraw:

1. "Awareness without action is worthless."

2. "The truth doesn't have versions."

3. "You wouldn't worry so much about what people thought about you if you knew how seldom they did."

4. "Don't wait until you're in a crisis to come up with a crisis plan."

5. "You're only lonely if you're not there for you."

6. "If you want more, you have to require more from yourself."

7. "You need to listen to your body because your body is listening to you."

8. "It takes 1,000 'Atta boy's to erase one, 'You're an idiot.'"

9. "You teach people how to treat you."

10. "When you forgive, it doesn't mean you approve of what happened. Rather, it means that you are giving yourself permission to move on with your life."

11. "You have to raise you words, not your voice. It's the rain that makes the flowers grow, not the thunder."

12. "If you believe you deserve better, you will create better for yourself."

13. "You can't change what you don't acknowledge."

14. "Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?"

15. "You can't change other people or conditions; you can change only your reactions to them."

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
