14 Things People At Texas State Think

There's always something on Bobcats' minds.

Texas State is constantly buzzing, from as early as 8 a.m. to as late as however long it takes for students to study after procrastinating for too long or partying their stress away.

Here are 14 thoughts that likely go through many of the minds of Texas State students' (and maybe even faculty's):

1. I wonder if I should take my umbrella with me even though it's completely sunny outside?

Everyone who's lived in Texas knows that the weather is completely unpredictable and Weather apps are rendered virtually useless. It's always a good idea to keep a backup umbrella or poncho with you, or at the very least a jacket with a hood unless you prefer running through buckets and buckets of rain as you sprint to class.

2. I wonder if they're giving away free shirts in the Quad?

Free shirts in the quad. Free shirts. Free. That's all you need to hear.

3. I wonder if I can manage to not make eye contact with anyone in the Quad so no one will bother me?

Especially if it's between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m. No, I do not want to hear about whatever event your sorority or fraternity is hosting Friday night, but I might pick up a breakfast taco, thank you.

4. I wonder if and what time Brother Jed will be by the Stallions so I know when to avoid the Quad?

Yes, please tell me more about how I've sinned for eating my Chick-fil-a sandwich.

5. I wonder if the food at Harris today is better than what's at Commons?

It's an ongoing competition, and usually, it's one over the other. Which one will win today?

6. I wonder if I'll still lose weight/gain muscle if I go to the Rec just to get one of those smoothies?

This smoothie has protein in it, of course, you will.

7. I wonder if anyone actually follows the walk signs for crossing anymore?

Nope. And if someone does, they're probably new here (or at the very least, not in a rush to get to wherever they're going like the rest of us who are usually five minutes late.)

8. I wonder if the trains purposely plan their routes so that students will be late to class?

They planned this. You know they did.

9. I wonder if ITAC can fix my laptop without looking through my browser history?

It's best to just go in and delete what you can before you get there. Just to be safe.

10. I wonder if there's some secret passageway hidden in Alkek Library?

Note: Yes there is, and no I'm not going to tell you where it is. Locate it for yourself.

11. I wonder if Boko actually lounges in Boko's Lounge or if Boko just normally has groups of sleep-deprived college student sleeping at his place on a regular basis?

It could be both. Boko is a popular cat.

12. I wonder if the skateboarders who blindly skate down Sessom actually want to get hurt so they don't have to deal with an upcoming exam?

Maybe not the smartest idea, but it's understandable, I guess.

13. I wonder if Bubble Man is out and about so I can smile for a little bit?

He probably is, and he'll probably make you smile at least a little bit. He's a very nice guy.

14. I wonder if Texas State wasn't a "hill country." would people go to class more often?

Attendance probably wouldn't be affected all that much, but the fabled "Freshman 15" would definitely be a lot easier to achieve.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
