Women Empowering Women: Why It's So Important

Okay ladies, now let’s get in formation.

Imagine how great a world this would be if women were able to come together as one and empower one another to become the best versions of themselves possible. This should be the case, however, society is moving steadily further and further away from this concept. Nowadays, womanhood has become a competition to come out on top. Here is the reality: we all end up being the best anyway—the best at being ourselves. The only thing that could make us better than the best is through the help of all the other lovely ladies around us, and here is why.

First of all, hate is a wasted emotion. The time we waste resenting other women, whether they are your boyfriend's ex, your long lost friend, or a woman who accidentally bumped into you on the subway, is time wasted. If you really think about it, it is nothing but destructive and hurtful to yourself. As soon as you see or hear about a person you deem to be someone you “don’t like,” there is an unavoidable and instantaneous flow of negative emotions into your mind.

These negative emotions can linger for minutes, hours, or days depending on the person. Simply changing your views on that one individual you can’t stand into something a bit more positive could significantly lessen your chance of wanting to vomit at the sound of their name, and keep your mind at ease and full of positive emotions throughout your day. The positive energy you portray shines onto those around you — never forget that.

Jealousy has been, and always will be, an ugly trait. There is nothing more beautiful than a confident, empowering woman. All physical attributes aside, intelligence, confidence, and drive take the cake. If someone has something you want, go out and work for it yourself!

As women, we constantly are faced with the media objectifying us as sexual objects. In turn, this adversely affects the way we view one another, and how we view ourselves. We judge others for being too thin, to thick, too tall, or too short. Sadly, we are even more harsh to the reflection we see in the mirror. When it all comes down to nothing, we all want to feel beautiful in our own skin. All it takes is a simple complement. If you see someone rockin’ a pair of ripped jeans, no matter the size, go up to them and tell them they look fine as wine. It feels good giving complements just as it feels good receiving them. Once you approach one stranger with a compliment, they become much more common. Break the ice, and don’t regret it.

Success is a snowball effect. It is impossible to reach success alone, and what comes out of success is always better when shared with those around you. The success of one woman can inspire the next, and the snowball will keep rolling until it can’t be stopped.

You could change someone's life. Empowering those around you to be the best, most happy versions of themselves possible could change the lives of the people around you as well as your own. Good karma will always come around, and so will the people you stood by. They will be thanking you for believing in them and pushing them to keep going, and that is something they could never repay you for.

It is time to kiss our old ways goodbye, and embrace a new life consisting of empowering emotions towards our fellow females. Let's raise our glasses to all the lovely ladies out there; may we be familiar with them, may we educate them, and may we ourselves, be them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
