One Woman Can Change Anything

“Women should empower each other instead of being so hateful and envious of one another.”

Ladies, we are all in this together we understand each other; we’re emotional at times and crave chocolate but so what? In the beginning of the 1800’s women had no rights and were strictly housewives who were destined to raise children. We couldn’t vote, run organizations, work, speak up and had to depend on a man for assistance. Throughout the 1800’s there were many changes; during this era women were given opportunities for freedom and soon enough we were given a voice in this world. Women took advantage of these opportunities and changed their role in America. We wanted to be heard, remembered and appreciated; in today’s society we’ve proven that we can make a difference. So let’s use our courageous attitude and our voices to speak up for what’s right and most importantly speak up for one another. Now, that concludes the mini history lesson let’s get back to women in today’s society and why we should be empowering and boosting one another.

People in general tend to conform to society’s standards. Women are breaking down one another because of society's view on what and who’s beautiful. Beauty is a heavy subject and I want to address the issues with these “standards.” Beauty is in the way you hold yourself, how you treat others and the way you love yourself. Beauty is about self acceptance and being proud of the color of your skin, not the number that pops up on the scale or the blemishes on the body. Who’s to say that being ninety pounds is beautiful? I think whoever said that is ignorant because beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes; what would our world be if there were only Barbie and Ken dolls walking around? I’ve struggled with weight my entire life and I never felt comfortable in my own skin, but I’ve learnt to accept who I am. You can be ninety pounds or two hundred pounds it doesn’t matter. But what does matter is how to portray and see yourself, and that’s the way others will see you. Beauty is in the soul and if you think you’re any more of a person because you have nice features then you need a reality check. Women shouldn’t be bashing one another over social media and making derogatory remarks such as, “you’re fat" or "you look like a bag bones" or "you need to lose some weight." Why aren’t we all working together as one and helping each other thrive? It doesn’t make you any less of a person if you help another feel good about who they are.

Another huge issue is the topic of makeup and contouring. Long ago when Egyptians created makeup they used mixtures of copper which led to colors to paint with and dark colored powder to accentuate the eyes. The dark colors were said to “ward off evil spirits," meanwhile today women are wearing makeup to either impress others, help them feel better about themselves or even hide themselves. And that’s okay ladies, if you are choosing to wear eye makeup or contouring the entire face it’s your life and your choice. No one has the right to call you fake or spit nasty comments at you for doing what makes you happy. Ladies, if it isn’t your face then you should probably keep your comments to yourself or help boost your acquaintances in a positive way.

Just remember every single one of you has strength and passion that can inspire others around you. Everyone has beauty in them and something they can use to motivate the world. So please feel and be beautiful.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
