When you think of Southern climates, you think of hot, cold, or somewhere in between. But, since we are the middle of February, we can talk about winter fashions. In southern regions, such as Alabama, Mississippi, or Georgia, the weather can be very inconsistent. Students are unaware of what they should wear in southern climate because they never know what type of temperature or climate could occur. Some days could have very dry heat, or they could have muggy weather with rain - not to mention overbearing thunderstorms and sleet.
For the winter season, students may wear the latest Uggs, sweats, joggers, and bomber jackets. However, students who go to a Southern university sometimes wear wind breakers, tank tops, v- necks, or flip flops. Even though it’s winter time, students have to choose certain clothing in order to feel comfortable for the weather.
For example, you might think it’s cold outside so you grab a pair of stylish boots and heavy jeans. But, as it turns out, it's instead 64 degrees outside, so you grab a pair of shorts and your favorite Toms. Southern weather is so confusing that one might not know what to expect. One hour it could feel like winter and in the next few hours, it can feel like the beginning of summer.
Here are some winter styles for men and women below:
Women’s fashion
College ladies are known for wearing long colorful scarfs and skinny jeans. To make it work for the South, instead of tight corduroys, they can wear ripped jeans if it’s warm outside.
Men’s fashion
During the winter, men could wear thick bomber jackets. If they want to be casual college men especially could wear oversize hoodies with their college logo. If the weather is cold outside, they could wear Timberlands or loafers. If it’s warm, you can’t go wrong wearing nice All Star’s.
Because the weather is uncontrollable, it’s good to vary what you wear as long as you're being true to your own personal style.
