In the summer, dating is fun; whether it’s going for a walk, enjoying a nice movie in the park, or going out for a picnic there’s always something to do; but what about when winter hits and it’s too cold to be outside?

For anyone who lives in Chicago or likes going down town to have fun, there’s many great opportunities to find something fun to do, regardless of the weather.

Here’s six winter date ideas to do while in downtown (DT) Chicago.


1. Ice Skating in Millennium Park

Fridays 12PM-10PM
Saturdays 10AM-10PM
Sundays closed

Dates: November 18th-March 5th

2. Hershey’s Chocolate World

Home of World’s Largest Chocolate Bar! You can find everything Hershey’s related and interactive activities involving chocolate.

3. Water Tower Place (Shopping Center)

More than just an eight story shopping mall, Water Tower Place has restaurants as well as different forms of entertainment including live entertainment. Which is the perfect place to go on a date due to the many options of things to do.

4) Lincoln Park ZooLights Festival

Includes many activities such as 3D displays, ice sculptures, holiday snacks, holiday gift shopping and the main attraction: Musical Light Show. This is ideal for dates because you can bundle up, visit the animals, sip hot chocolate and enjoy walking around looking at the amazing lights show.

5) Sprinkles Cupcakes

Who says summer time is the only time to walk around downtown Chicago? If you’re walking along Michigan Avenue a good spot to stop at is the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM. It includes many flavors from the popular red velvet, vanilla and chocolate as well as some new exciting ones like cinnamon sugar, chai latte and banana peanut butter.

6. Winter Wonderfest

Don’t want to be outside because it’s too cold? A perfect stop is the Winter Wonderfest down at Navy Pier. It includes games, rides, activities, an indoor Ferris wheel and even an indoor ice rink.
