It seems as if the semester really flew by…. and it really did. I can’t lie when you return to a campus after a break from school, it feels different. You have the overwhelming feeling of coming back home and filling out applications in hopes of getting a job.Although you see the inevitable coming, you’re still unprepared for it; thus making it fascinating on how fast life goes, and how easy it is for you to get caught in slow motion. You hope for a fulfilling semester next time, but you continue to ponder about the world outside of the books and the classroom.

There was a time where I have been convinced that I should stay in Buffalo after college. They fed me with statistics and advice that suggest that the kids that go away for college end up finding a home in the location they went to school in. Don’t get me wrong, Buffalo State College is an impressive campus filled with competitive teaching and rewarding incentives and engages you into real life success. From the staff that I met and the peers that I came across whether good or bad, they all helped shape the college to what it is today. I used to think that if I had to choose which college I would to go to again although I love Syracuse, I wouldn’t hesitate at the offer to go to Buffalo State College. But I would be lying to myself if I retained that same ideology that I had freshman year.

When I first got here, I had my doubts as to if I would be able to match up to the other students in skillset and interpretation of my thoughts on paper. I loved to write, but lacked transition words, and idea sparks to get my mind flowing to write fluently. Throughout my years, I realized that it is not your capability that decides your character, but your true ambition that motivates you to progress and become better at your craft.

I began to learn how to interpret my ideas and grab the attention of people not through just simply becoming educated, but through applying my education in a way that would propel me into understanding the aspects of life; and the complexity of the human mind. I was able to channel emotions to relate to certain people, and thus expanding my cultural knowledge as well as my understanding of how geographical differences influences comprehension. I honed my skills and allowed my confidence to transform into competitiveness, which helped me free myself and impose my feelings and visions within my actions, and my writing. I always tell myself to be better than everyone else regardless of how smart, strong, or wise they are. In expanding my knowledge in college, I was able to not only give myself self-assurance about my future after college, but it also provided others with gateway to achieving higher heights using me as a reference.

We all have things that motivate us to do the impossible. We all possess the gift to be great and create something magical doing what we love. College taught me that. It taught me that your goals have to be chased and captured in order to succeed in life. It also taught me that school doesn’t just get you a degree, but an opportunity to explore the unknown and enhance your understanding for the past, present and future. In the end you might not use the majority of what you learned in school, but at the same time you don’t really know what part of that essential education you might need.

So why focus on one aspect when you don’t know what opportunity awaits you…

We all know that we have limitations to what we can control. The future is heavily influenced on how you were brought up in your past, and how much work you put in the present. I know that from experience. I have been fighting with the rest of the world to show them that I am worthy to be a successful lawyer. Although I would try my hardest to engage in things that increase my chances of becoming a lawyer, I am often hit with other opportunities that draw me further away from my goal. I have always expressed my love for writing and drawing; it seems more interesting to most than my infatuation with law. It’s what makes me write for odyssey, edit my first book, and give myself passion and the drive to write my own book.

I always say that when you feel every step, then you will provide a purpose to your journey, and meaning to your destination; and that’s what putting your foot down stands for. With that being said, it brings us back to the question will all things come to an end? My answer to that question is no, at least not yet. College has its ups and downs, things that I’ve wished I never saw, and things I wish never disappear from memory. I’ve met people who are inspiring, and people who despise me. I have created a community of love through education. It is education in which drives the world, and shapes the foundations of our future.

I have decided to continue my pursuit in achieving success as a lawyer, but I have also continued my passion for poetry and writing. I’m not sure if I would ever finish writing a book, but I already accomplished making myself a better man. One that works hard, humbles himself, and awaits his opportunity to take. Over the years before college, I have struggled to find the feel in my step, purpose in my journey, and meaning in my destination. I was different from most kids. Throughout my life, I have possessed original talents that can only be unlocked through the concept of believing yourself. I’ve always been taught that time is precious and that you can lose your talent, especially the ones you think is impossible to lose. I still have faith in this college because it played a small part in making me the man I am today…

Beautifully crafted, elegantly expressed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
