I used to be the girl who had a lot of friends, but when I met my boyfriend, that all changed. He instantly became my best friend and my other friends casually began to disappear. As we grew closer and I drifted from the majority of my group, it became clear to me why he was my best friend.
He's my best friend because he listens to my constant drama and never gets annoyed about it. I know that when something happens throughout my day, I can call him right away and count on the fact that he will listen with no complaints. He gives me advice about how I should handle each situation and he even tells me when I'm wrong. He's the reason I learned to forgive and to forget and to see the best in everyone. There has never been a time in the past two years that I couldn't count on him.
He's my best friend because he enjoys staying in on Friday night's and binge watching Netflix with me. I was never the girl to want to go out and party, but my friends were, so I spent my weekends alone. Finding a guy who didn't want to party and drink his weekend away was a blessing. He even watches my girly shows and gets into them, so that's a bonus. Not many guys are willing to do that.
He's my best friend because he understands that it's the little things that matter. Some girls just want their boyfriends to buy them gifts and constantly take them out. Of course my boyfriend and I go out and we do get each other things, but it's not a constant deal. That's not what relationships are about and I'm grateful that my boyfriend understands that. Instead of buying me everything, he leaves notes on my car, brings me my favorite candy when I've had a bad day, and even takes care of me when mother nature makes her appearance every month. It's the little things that count and having that in a person definitely meets the best friend quota.
He's my best friend because he supports me. Whether it's schoolwork or extracurricular activities, he's always there. When I'm up late studying, he calls me and sits on the phone with me for hours. If I'm frustrated, he calms me down and makes me try until I finally get it. He never lets me get myself down and he never gives up on me. He's the guy that goes with me to sit through a fourteen hour competition and doesn't have one complaint. Instead, he watches me with a smile on his face, gives me a hug when I walk off of the floor, and gives me pointers on what I can do to improve my routines. He even sits through boring dance recitals just to see me do my thing and that will always be more than enough.
I have had many friends throughout my life and none have them have ever done the things for me like my boyfriend has. There are people who try to knock us down, but he never lets them get to our relationship. He's the one I can count on to bring me up when I'm down and to never leave my side. He may be my boyfriend, but he's also so much more than that. He's my best friend.
