...and never look back

"Go out and do something. It isn't your room that's a prison, it's yourself"
-Sylvia Plath

Have you ever wanted something out of life, but you were too afraid to go and get it? It seems nowadays we get so caught up in school and work that we have stopped taking chances and have begun to settle for a normal life. What happened to all of plans you made at 18 years old? Don’t let them go because you think you don’t have the time or guts to do it now. Believe it or not, now is exactly the time you should be jumping in to take that risk.

1) Do it while you're young.

It’s very cliché, but it’s the truth. When you start to get older and settled in to a real life job with a family, you lose all of the free time and leeway that you have right now. We fail to realize how busy life becomes the older we get, so the more we push off the things we want to do, the more we’re running out of time to do them. Everyone only has one lifetime to do the things they want to do, take

2) You'll eventually look back on your life with regret.

In your life, it’s inevitable to have regrets about certain choices you’ve made. But if you want something bad enough right now, go out and get it. Why wait any longer and possibly lose your opportunity to do it? Nobody wants to look back on their life and think about all of the chances they could have taken but never did.

3) Make new memories.

No one looks back on their life and talks about the times they went to school or went to work and got to bed at a reasonable time. What we always remember most are those moments we stepped out of our comfort zones and decided to do something worthwhile. Life was made so we could do amazing things and get the most there is out of the time allotted to us here. Do yourself a favor and make a memory worth telling your kids before you have them.

4) It could change the rest of your life.

What if taking that risk you’re so afraid of could change your life for the better? What if you met your soulmate? What if you found out what it was you wanted to do with the rest of your life? Going somewhere new and going on an adventure could turn the whole course of your life. Imagine missing out on that because you were too scared to do something unusual. No matter where you are right now, don’t forget that you could be missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime.

5) There's nothing to lose.

When you’re young, there’s a lot less at stake than there will be when you’re older. You don’t have to worry about all of the things tying you down because how many things are actually tying you down when you’re 20? Right now the world is at your disposal: old enough where you can take a drive or plane to anywhere you want to go, and young enough to not worry about what it is you would be leaving behind. Go out and explore more than what is around you, get a taste of something new.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
