I am that girl of the group that is always saying, "Guys, let's take a pic here!" or "Wait! Don't move, I want to take a photo." A lot of my friends get annoyed and tell me that I take too many pictures. My response is always "I don't care, you're probably going to make me send this to you anyway."
Don't get me wrong, you can have too many pictures on a phone because they can take up a lot of space (and everyone knows that every megabyte counts on an iPhone), which is why I always sync my phone to my computer so I can save the photos forever.
The main reason I love taking photos everywhere I go is because I will have those memories forever. Now that the iPhone's camera has improved a ton since it first came out, we don't even have to carry around a camera all the time, which makes it even easier. I love looking back on photos that I take or ones I am in with my friends because it reminds me of the good memories.
While traveling, it is easy to forget what your whole day consisted of because it was probably so jam packed with tourist sites. Taking pictures everywhere can be helpful to jog your memory at the end of the day to remember your experiences from the day.
I tend to take a million pictures at every place I visit so I can ensure that one of them will come out nice. One good thing about the digital age is that we can go back and delete pictures (unlike polaroids and disposable cameras).
The main problem with always wanting pictures is that you constantly have to bother someone to take a picture of you or of you and your friends. I hate that look I get from strangers (or even from someone that I know) when I ask them to take a picture. Even worse than the look they give are the pictures they take. Sometimes, a person will take one photo that no one would be ready for and on top of that, it would be blurry, then they just walk away and not even make sure if I like it.
This is where selfies come in. Selfies are a great way to take fast pictures everywhere without bothering anyone else. Now, with the selfie stick, the pictures can sometimes come out even better than if someone else were to take the picture! Don't be afraid to pull out your selfie stick. Yes, you will get made fun of, but when you have the best pictures in your whole group, everyone will be begging you to send them all of the photos from the day.
So next time you want to take a picture with your friends, do not hesitate because you are scared they will think you're annoying, just do it.
