You are a person with big dreams and you want to make a difference in the world. I understand 100%. I dream of traveling to every exotic country and capturing the most beautiful photos of African sunsets or Brazilian rain-forests, or glaciers in Iceland. However, I also dream of a simple life at home in America. So at some point we have to decide, which dreams will make a difference but will bring the most joy to our lives. But also, which dreams will you regret forgetting about that will eventually catch up to you later. As we go on through college, they want you to do the four years and graduate, get a job, get married. I hope that this job you just spent a fortune on for schooling makes you happy. I hope that you get an adrenaline rush from doing what you love. I hope that the job of your choosing gives you a reason to wake up in the morning. Gives you a reason to love life and to be happy. I hope that every time someone asks you what you do.. you answer with a smile. I hope that the major you have chosen isn’t because of financial security. A quote I found while scrolling through Pinterest supports this.
“No amount of security is worth the suffering of a mediocre life chained to a routine that has killed your dreams” -Maya Mendoza
Do not let the hard work of achieving something you find important burn you out. Rest a little and remind yourself why you are working so hard and who you are doing it for. Are you doing it for you or because you are afraid of what others will think of you? You are the one who has to live with yourself, not them.
I hope that where ever you go in life you don’t forget who you are and what you love. I know someone who used to be so creative but life tore her down and now after many years she is still trying to find her spark again. Whether it is work, a relationship, or any other situation. It is never worth giving up your love or the one thing that ignites your imagination to be safe. Safe is dull. Safe is easy. Safe is linked with consequences of regret. Or the famous last words of “I wish I would have…”. Never be satisfied with average, keep searching for the spark that ignites your fireworks.
