So all of the food in the grocery store revolves around processed food these days. Am I right? All of the middle isles are crackers, cookies, soda, chips, cereal, you name it. They all have something in common: they have sugar. Lots of it. Read the label, it doesn't always say sugar, but it say other things that are just other names for it like high fructose corn syrup, glucose, brown rice syrup, dextrose, maltose, evaporated cane juice, and so many more. Sugar is more addictive than cocaine and it's in almost everything we enjoy eating and drinking today. It's not good for us at all, so why are we consuming it? Because it's added to everything to make it taste good so we buy it more. But, you don't need to put yourself at risk or put more money it big business' pockets.
The most obvious benefit is the weight factor...
So it's widely known that cutting something like this out will help you lose or control your weight. The thing is: doing this makes it so simple. It's just hard to break the addiction.
No more sugar cravings.
When you eat sugar, you crave sugar. Simple as that. It's difficult in the beginning but once you get through the first week or two, it's nothing! Fill those strong cravings with a serving of fruit and you'll be good.
Way more energy. Like, a ton.
When I stopped eating sugar, I was absolutely loaded with energy. I had increased focus and more motivation to get my to-do list done. Processed foods give you a quick energy spike (sugar rush) and then drop you down needing more to get on with your day. That's how the cycle goes on endlessly.
It's your health, duh!
Probably the most important reason. Your blood sugar will be regulated, your teeth will be better, your skin will be clearer, your body will just love you. Processed foods wreck havoc on your body! It gives you life, treat it well.
A few reminders:
Stay away from foods labeled 'sugar-free'. They contain artificial sweeteners that are very harmful and numerous studies show that they can cause cancer. Not to mention they're still made with other ingredients that aren't good for you.
Read up on the subject. Before you take the leap of faith, I'm not a doctor...yet. Just an experienced lab rat.
Yes...fruit does have natural sugar, called fructose. Certain fruits have more than others, and it's best to have the ones with the most fiber. Fruit juice, on the other hand is just the juice and no fiber. So it can cause a very severe blood sugar spike and drop.
Stick with it! You will only notice it's effects if you are honest with yourself and are following it for an extended period of time.
