Donald Trump’s position on immigration and foreign policy was tested last week when the nation turned to him for his opinion on the election of London’s first Muslim mayor, Sadiq Khan. The British politician and Member of Parliament for Tooting was sworn in early last week in the city of London.
Due to Trump’s radical immigration laws, the newly elected mayor would only be able to enter the US through a presidential exception.
According to multiple news sources, Trump stated that “there will always be exceptions” when it comes to his policy on immigration. Mayor Khan did not approve of Trumps statement, declaring he will be “stopped from going there by virtue of my faith.”
This news is just a taste of what life would be like under the presidency of Donald Trump as he races to secure his spot as the GOP nominee. Due to instances like this, the public is slowly becoming aware of how radical Trump’s ideas are. Making “exceptions” so international officials can gather and “trade ideas.” Are these policies working toward making our country safe? Or are they dividing it by judging one another based on their faith and race?
