Every day we wake up, get ready, go to school or work, come home and then do it all over again. We tend to see the same people and places, hear consistent sounds and smell familiar aromas. Every day we do the same thing. We live a life that we find ourselves to be comfortable in.
Do you ever imagine the world outside of the walls you live behind? What do other people do every day? Do they wake up and have similar days like you do? What kind of things do they smell, hear and see? Do you ever wonder what it would feel like to climb past that wall and experience the lives that other people may live? I ask myself these questions almost every day.
I have the blessing of growing up in a family that loves to travel. When I was younger, my family always found a time among our busy schedules to leave home and see what other places of the world had to offer. My parents wanted my siblings and I to know what it feels like to travel at a young age, so we could have a better perspective on the world around us. I am forever grateful for this because now, at 19 years old, I crave to see more of the world. Traveling has shaped me as a person for the better and it will continue to do so as my knowledge of the world continues.
I want to see the world. I want to travel to visually grasp what the universe has to offer. I want to be with the plants, animals and landscape that covers the grounds of the earth that we live on.
I want to feel the world. I want to be able to sit down in another part of the world and take it all in. I want to be aware of all of the sounds and smells that surround me. I want to become one with the new area that is encompassing me and my life.
I want to experience the world. I want to be able to tell my grandchildren one day of the places I went and the people I met. The experiences I make will be memories and parts of me that I will forever keep and share with others until the day I die.
I want to understand the world. I want to go somewhere and do things in a different way than I am used to. I want to go somewhere where I have to bathe outdoors or travel without a car. I want to travel to truly understand how others live their lives. I want to see how different it is and take in how amazing life is.
Traveling will instill character, experience and give you a greater outlook on life; I promise you that. If you get the chance to travel in the future, through studying abroad, work or just a vacation, take it and go. You will be able to leave the comfort of your regular life and experience it through someone else's eyes. You will grow as a person for the better.
A quote that I read on Pinterest once said, "Travel. Travel as much as you can. Travel as far as you can go. Life is not meant to be lived in one place."
Travel safely, friends.
