Coming from a girl who has no experience in the fitness industry, I think working out almost every day is important for many reasons.
I did sports in high school, which put me on a regular schedule to be active 5-6 days a week. That was great because I had someone telling me what to do and how many times to do it every single day. Once I graduated and decided to not continue my athletic career I realized how important working out was to me.
Without someone there to push me all the time, I had to push myself. After doing a great workout I just have a feeling of joy. I pushed myself to be a better person today. I can tell you many times I have finished a workout and thought "Well that wasn't worth it." But the days I do get the great workout, I feel proud of myself.
As all college students do, I have a crazy hectic schedule that changes week to week. Things pop up, exams get in the way and there really isn't anything to do about it. I can't help but feel frantic trying to always get my life together. Pushing aside time to workout in my schedule does a lot of great things for me.
For starters, it gives my brain a break. If I am studying for a couple hours or I just got back from a class that overwhelmed me, it is nice to shut my brain off and go run for a couple miles. Secondly, it gives me some routine in my crazy life. I try to work out around the same times during the week if I can and it gives me some sanity knowing it is a part of my schedule.
Another great thing about college is that everyone is broke, and eating fast food and cheap meals that aren't necessarily healthy. As much as I try to eat healthy, sometimes I am on the run and I need to grab a burger or some chicken nuggets. So at least if I workout I can try to avoid gaining that college weight.
Working out has helped my life in a number of ways other than just having a healthy body.
