I want to get real for a moment. There are two phrases that a lot of people use, on occasion and without thinking, I have used them too and I sometimes think that most people don't think twice about saying them. Now, you're probably wondering what phrases I'm talking about....
The phrases "kill me now" and "I just want to die" combined have 23 letters, 8 syllables and take a matter of seconds to say.
Why do we use these words when there are millions of other ways to describe how we feel about a situation? There are people every day who have a real struggle with experiencing these thoughts, some who have even gone through with it, so why do we feel the need to say it when we don't feel like going somewhere or talking to someone etc.? I've been trying to not say either of these phrases because, on the rare occasion that I do say them, I end up feeling, for lack of a better word, guilty because of it.
I'm sorry to everyone who has a real struggle with thinking and feeling that way. I hope that the rest of us are able to find different ways to express ourselves so that it doesn't make what you feel every day seem like it doesn't matter. For the rest of us, I guess what I'm trying to say is that we need to broaden our vocabulary and think before we speak, myself included.
