You don't like Hillary? So you are voting for Trump, even though you don't like Trump? You don't like Trump? So you are voting for HIllary, even though you don't like Hillary? The number of times I have heard people say these exact statements bewilder me. I understand that the Democratic party and the Republican party are the two major parties in the United States — but newsflash: the Democratic and Republican parties are not the only ones on the ballot this fall; meaning you don't have to vote for either Hillary or Trump if you don't like them.
You say you don't like Hillary or Trump, but you are figure you will just choose the lesser of two evils? Sorry, but this is the first election I am able to vote in and I will not just be picking "a lesser of two evils" and I highly suggest you do the same! So where does that leave us? It leaves us with an opportunity to actually go past what the media monopolies are running through their news cycle about the two major parties candidates, and research other candidates that are not getting as much attention as Hillary or Trump.
You may be a tried and true Democratic or Republican, thus you will be voting for your party regardless that you may not be a fan of the candidate who is representing your respected party; I want to encourage you to look past the label you declared for yourself and look entirely at what your values are and which candidate actually matches up with them.
I want to encourage to look up with names Gary Johnson and Jill Stein. Both Johnson and Stein are running for President this fall. Research their platforms and compare them with what your core values are. Research their careers and see how successful they have been. Research the kind of character they have and how it could play into who they would be as the next Commander-in-Cheif of our military; because right now, half of America doesn't want 'a liar' and the other half doesn't want 'a bigot' to take the reigns of the lives of our troops and our nuclear power weapons.
This election is already going to be an odd one with Hillary and Trump running against each other, why not add in the possibility that a non-major party candidate like Johnson or Stein could win by doing some research and truly becoming engaged with the Presidential Election in 2016?
