If you believe that elected officials in the United States government truly care about the well-being of the American citizens, I would ask you to reconsider. For too long, our government and policies have favored the millionaires and billionaires of this country. Current policies that exist in the U.S. favor heavily the fossil fuel industries, Wall Street, Big Pharma and the list goes on...The richest of the rich pay into the political system — putting in billions of dollars in campaign and lobbying funds — and their return on investment? Trillions of dollars of benefits that include politicians passing policies that benefit them and government officials turning a blind eye to corporate criminal actions.
As former President Jimmy Carter recently said, unlimited money in politics “violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now, it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president...”
On the 2016 Presidential Election: Hillary Clinton plays a huge role in the problem of the corrupt campaign finance system that Bernie Sanders preaches about over and over. And for that reason (among many), I will never cast a vote for HRC.
Hillary Clinton has claimed that she, like Senator Sanders, is an advocate for campaign finance reform. Yet she continues to rake in money from her super PACs during her 2016 campaign.
In April, 2015, Hillary promised that she would go after Hedge Fund Managers and close carried interest loopholes, presumably to distance herself from corporate ties. However, Priorities USA Action, one of HRC's biggest super PACs, earned a $3.5 million check from James Simons, a New York City hedge fund manager and philanthropist on Jan. 11, 2016. Did HRC mean what she said not even a year ago, or was this simply political rhetoric to gain popularity in the Presidential Race?
The truth of the matter is, the American public finds Hillary Clinton very untrustworthy, and the reasons why are obvious. She contradicts herself time and time again and people are beginning to catch on. Many of the things she has stood for in the past and continues to advocate today are not things that line up with Bernie Sanders' ideals. Yes, she has aligned to the far left, but that is because she knows that it is what she needs to do in order to secure the nomination, i.e. Step One in a career politician's guide to get into the White House.
Bernie or Bust: A pledge to write-in Bernie Sanders or vote for the Green Party candidate, that 61,000+ people have taken so far.
This pledge guarantees that many Sanders supporters will not support HRC as the Democratic nominee, which will open the door for a Republican to win the general election, and that could possibly be Donald Drumpf *shudders*. Make no mistake, Bernie or Bust is not just a pledge, but a protest against the powers that be. It is a challenge against the establishment. Call it foolish, stupid, or whatever you may, but Hillary Clinton is in no way entitled to our votes. Candidates should be chosen because We The People believe them to be the best candidate for the job. We shouldn't have to vote between the lesser of two evils:
There is no need to worry quite yet, friends. There are still 27 contests and Bernie Sanders has a very good chance to be the Democratic Nominee. The New York Times, who has shown obvious Pro-Clinton bias, has even laid out the path to a Sanders victory. Not to mention that Bernie Sanders does better than Clinton in a head-to-head contest in a general election against Trump.
The Political Revolution is as strong as it's ever been and we will not give up without a fight. In the Presidential Race of 2016, it's Bernie or Bust.
