Why 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Should Be Your Next Netflix Binge

If you haven't already feverishly binge-watched the amazing new Netflix original, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you definitely should a) read this article to find out just what you're missing b) undoubtedly you'll immediately open a new Netflix tab and begin what is the best show ever. Produced and written by Tina Fey (enough freaking said — it's hilarious), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt tells the story of Kimmy, who was kidnapped as an 8th grader and forced into a cult to live in an underground bunker ... for 15 years. She and her bunker sisters end up on The Today Show and instead of taking the bus back to Indiana, Kimmy decides to stay and try to make it in the city. She finds a nannying job working for a wealthy family (complete with a histrionic and spoiled mother, Mrs. Voorhees). Kimmy lives in a tiny basement apartment with the hilarious failed actor, Titus Andromedon, who plays a Transformer in Times Square and is trying to be famous. And she might even find love along the way. So let's get to it, here's why Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt should most certainly, definitely, of course be your next Netflix show.

1. Kimmy embraces her youthful nature.

She wears light up sneakers and the brightest colors of the rainbow. She carries a Jansport backpack, eats candy for dinner, and isn't too old for the swingset. Kimmy brings you a ray of sunshine and a piece of your childhood.

2. Kimmy is adorably innocent.

Since Kimmy's been in a bunker for, like, ever, she's missed a lot of pop culture references, and her naivety is pretty hilarious.

3. She knows how to take a compliment.

Exhibit A:

Her nannying charge calls her the B word and ...

4. Kimmy's boss, Mrs. Voorhees, is hilarious.

So Kimmy gets a job as a nanny for a wealthy NYC socialite, who says, "I'm not running a charity here ... "

5. Also Kimmy's roommate Titus had me laughing to the point of wheezing.

6. Kimmy is super inspiring.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is binge-watching perfection. 12 30-minute episodes of pure hilariousness.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
