Traveling the world is an awesome thing. It gives you a brand new perspective on the different cultures, food, and people. I had the opportunity to go abroad in the summer of my sophomore year in high school and I do not regret that decision. Traveling is an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and see what you love and what you don't love.
I took a lot of family trips out of Florida but the only time I went abroad with my family was when we visited my family in Vietnam. I had a chance to go to New York, California, Niagara Falls, Alabama, Memphis,Tennessee, Mississippi, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Georgia, and a cruise to Mexico and the Bahamas with my family.
When I went abroad the summer in my sophomore year, I had the chance to go to Dublin, Paris, Wales, and London through my high school. Going to theses four places, made me so happy and excited. I had my friends on this trip and I made new friends! It gave me a new perspective on people and the world.
I ate crepes, macarons, beef stew, fish and chips, and so much more. I saw the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Louvre, sheep, Glendalough, the Book of Kells, Beaumaris Castle, William Shakespeare’s house, Big Ben, London Eye, London Bridge and so much more.
I think at a young age; I knew I wanted to travel the world. If anyone has the opportunity to travel… DO IT! Traveling gave me such an amazing experience. I would not trade it for the world. Don’t let it be the money that holds you back. There are several ways you can get it- GoFundMe, fundraisers, family, and friends. Don’t let it be you being a responsible adult- you can be a responsible adult when you’re abroad! Don’t let it be time- you can travel when YOU want to travel.
I have not studied abroad yet in college but I am looking forward to it. After the trip to Europe in the summer, I got the traveling bug. I just want to go anywhere and everywhere.
