Traveling has always been a passion of mine. My love for traveling started at a very young age. When I was only about 4 years old, I met my neighbors' friends who lived in New Zealand. Since I was 4 years old, I have always desired to go to New Zealand, even though I had no idea where it was or what New Zealand even was. Since then, my love for travel has only grown. No matter where I am going or who I am with, I love to go to new places. I do not understand why people don't like going on adventures or traveling to places they have never been. It is hard to fathom someone who does not have any interest in traveling.
With the technology today, it is easier to see places without even going to them. Where is the fun in that? When I see a photograph, it makes me what to go to that place, but some people are satisfied with just seeing a picture. I think travel photography is still incredibly important. It informs people and helps those who are unable to travel to see the world. Sometimes we have a dream of going to another country and we use the photography to build that dream. The word "fernweh" means a longing for a place you've never been, or a craving to travel. I believe this perfectly defines my desire to travel. I have not been to many countries, but my heart longs to travel and see the beautiful world we live in.
Travel is worth it. It may seem complicated and scary, but you learn so much about the world and other people. I don't think it is possible to live on this Earth and never see what it has to offer. There is so much to learn from everything that surrounds us. The people, the cultures, the natural beauty, even the man-made beauty. People have designed extremely impressive architecture that is meant to be seen. The world is meant to be seen and appreciated and learned about. When you travel abroad, you meet incredible people and hear amazing stories about the lives of other humans that we share this Earth with. You meet people who will change your life and help you view the world through a different pair of eyes.
To travel is to learn. I began my young years of life driving halfway across the United States from Nebraska to Oregon every summer. I rode in the car with my three siblings and parents. It was crowded, and the trip was long (three days), and we may have complained a lot, but those trips are some of the fondest memories of childhood that I have.
It is so important to make memories and get experiences while we are young. It gets harder to travel as you get older and we need to appreciate how lucky we are to be able to travel. It is not every day that we get to see the Rocky Mountains, or the Grand Canyon, New York City, the Pacific Ocean, the Eiffel Tower, or everything else on this beautiful Earth. Travel your hearts out! Everywhere you go and anything you do can be an adventure. Live your life to the fullest. Go on that road trip, visit that relative, go to a country that you have never been to, meet strangers, eat new food, see something amazing. The whole world is amazing and just waiting for you to go on your next adventure!
