When people think of Texas they often think of cowboys, football, and Tex-Mex. While some of that is definitely true, Texas is a bold, complex place with a rich and vibrant culture that changes depending on which side of the state you're in. The sheer size of Texas alone makes it a place that encompasses a wide variety of people and backgrounds. Us Texans, we love our state and that is something no other state can ever compare too.

The great state of Texas has its own rivers, piney woods, the beach, some of the biggest cities in the world, deserts and the beautiful hill country all in one state.
2) Whataburger
You don't know what fast food burgers are until you've been treated to a Whataburger.
3) The state fair of Texas
Because we all love deep-fried anything, carnival rides, and if you don't have a picture with Big Tex then are you truly even a Texas?
4) Beyoncé
On September 4, 1981, Houston, Texas gave the entire world the gift of Queen B.
5) The Best Country Music
Texas country is the best, hands-down, real country you will ever hear. Just ask King George himself.
6) Dr. Pepper
The lifeline that runs through all Texans' blood, thank you, Waco for such a wonderful invention.
7) The best grocery stores
HEB, Whole Foods Market, and Fiesta. Sorry Wal-Mart but you have nothing on these delicious stores.
8) Texans are friendly
Texas is a friendly state and we all know that.
9) Everything is bigger in Texas
How can you not be proud of a state that has one of the best economies in the world and has the most job growth of any other state? Texas actually has the WORLD'S 14th largest economy.
10) Mums.
It's news to Texas that people across the rest of the country don't celebrate high school homecoming with GIANT ribbon mums. But we don't get why not … it is honestly the best part of high school.
11) Blue Bell Ice Cream
This ice cream is better than any other ice cream you'll ever eat, and was started right in Brenham, Texas.
12) Tex Mex
Mexican food anywhere else has nothing on the beauty of Tex-Mex, us Texans don't understand how others live without it.
13) Friday Night Lights
Football is probably one of the most important parts of the culture of Texas, and no better show to capture that than Friday Night Lights. The show was filmed right in Austin, Texas and gives you a peek into the lives of your typical Texas football families.
14) We were a republic
I mean how can you not love the fact that we were once a republic and if we feel the need to secede, we probably will. We have all that we need.
15) Texas has pride
Don't mess with Texas. How many states can you think of where the citizens have so much pride that they just add “Texas to everything?" Shoot we even have our own state pledge to the flag. Nothing beats the pride of Texans and the love they have for their state, it's a beautiful thing.
