For those of you who do not know what the multiverse theory is, it is a theory that states that there are an infinite number of universes and the one that we live in is just one of many. Another way to think about this is the idea of parallel universes. Now, I understand that the possibility of this theory to be true is slim, but I still like the idea that there are an infinite number of me's out there, and here's why.
For starters, it makes me feel better about every decision that I have ever made/will ever make. With the multiverse theory, there are an infinite number of me's, which means that there will be at least one version of me that will make a decision I didn't make. What I mean by this is let's say that I wasn't sure about what I wanted to do with my life. Right now, I am senior in college studying biology, but there could be another me out there who is majoring in physics, English, history or even math! There could even be a version of me that didn't go to college. In another universe, I could be a rock star, an actor, a surgeon, an author, a detective or a professional athlete. The possibilities are endless for me, and they are for you too!
Next, the idea of there being infinite universes is comforting because that means there are solutions to every problem that this world has right now. In one universe, there could be a cure for cancer; in another, all crime could be eliminated and in another, we could have found the key to eternal life. This is nice because it means that no matter how difficult a problem may seem now, a solution can always be found.
Lastly, the multiverse theory is a good theory to believe in because it could mean that we could find a way to travel between universes. Imagine how amazing it would be to travel to another universe and find out more about how that universe works. We could travel to a parallel Earth where dinosaurs exist alongside humans, where we have had contact with alien life or where Bigfoot could be the mayor of California. Perhaps, if you are lucky enough, you could even encounter another version of you! Let's just hope if you meet another version of yourself, you won't explode...or the universe won't end.
Well, from the me from this universe and from the me from every other possible universe, have a nice day!
