Taylor Swift is one of those celebrities who everyone either loves or hates. There does not seem to be any in between on feelings towards the blonde superstar. Recently she just became the first female artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year twice.
Taylor took this opportunity to make her speech about the unpleasant side of the music industry, and of life for those not famous. So people do not agree with her using this time to shed light on an important issue that faces most teens and adults in this day and age, but I applaud her.
In her speech, Taylor spoke to those lines about her in Kanye West’s new song, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous(God Damn)/I made that bitch famous.” Instead of using the fame and influence to cause a scene and come back at him directly, Taylor spoke generally about those people who want to keep you down.
She spoke to her fans, and everyone, about how when you are doing what you need to, and being successful, that there will be people who are jealous f you and want to bring you down to their level. She said that those people will even take credit for your success at some point, but you have to keep moving. Do not let those who want to use you or put you down because they cannot do what you do affect your life. Focus on your work and the path that you are on and in time, when you turn around and look back, the only people who will matter are those who love you and support you on your journey.
This is such an important message not only to the young females of this generation, but to every young person who feels that those who wish them nothing but ill will are sidetracking them. If you stay focused on your work, keep your head up, and keep doing you, then they will not have anything to pick out and scrutinize. And if they do, then it is a problem that they alone have to deal with.
No matter if you like Taylor Swift’s music or would rather listen to screaming cats, everyone should listen and head her message.
