She's a fighter.
Our country is at a very important cross roads. We could turn right, and put Donald Trump in office. Or, we could turn left, putting Hillary Clinton in office. Theoretically, we have a third path, untravelled and overgrown, to elect a third party candidate. But that road is hardly noticed. Thus, leaving us with the two main options.
I'm 16, so obviously I am unable to vote in this election, which is pretty unfortunate. But nobody can stop me from being informed or sharing my views with others.
Even if the Republican candidate was Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Jeb Bush, or any of the other candidates who ran this year I would still be voting for Hillary Clinton. That's not just because I am a Democrat. I like to think I am a Democrat, but I do have some opposing views. But, I would vote for Hillary no matter who the other candidates were.
I have a disability, and the only reason I am in school right now, is because of her hard work and dedication to bettering the lives of others. Her first job after graduating from Yale's Law School was with the Children's Defense Fund, and one of her first tasks was to see why children were not attending school.
She went door-to-door in the blistering summer heat of the south, talking to all sorts of different people and listening to their stories. From this, she learned that most of the children who were not attending school weren't going because schools were not accommodating their disabilities.
She worked tirelessly to help gather information so that Congress would pass a law ensuring that all children with disabilities would have access to education just like everyone else.
If Hillary had not worked so hard and sacrificed so much time to her mission, many people with disabilities would probably still be sitting at home, uneducated.
And she didn't stop there.
She has voted countless bills into law during her time as a New York State Senator to benefit people with disabilities, as well as Co-Funding the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 while she served as Secretary of State. This ensured that people with disabilities could not be discriminated against in the workplace. Hillary still knows that there is more to be done for the disabilities' community.
That's not my only reason for supporting our 2016 Democratic Presidential Nominee though. I believe that we shouldn't shut people out of this country just because of their religion or race, and Hillary does too.
I believe that we need an economy that will support and work for everyone; so does Hillary.
And most of all, I believe that Hillary has the experience, knowledge, temperament, and strength to become our first female president.
It's not a job for everyone, but Hillary knows that. Hillary has seen the presidency up close as the First Lady from 1993 to 2001. Afterwards, she was a Senator for New York for eight years, and then Secretary of State for four. She also worked as a public defender, and was First Lady of Arkansas when Bill Clinton was the Governor. There is not doubt about it, she definitely has experience.
Now comes the hard part.
You probably question me for supporting someone who is "a criminal" as some people call her.
However, I do not believe she is a criminal.
Obviously, there are some very questionable things about her past decisions, but I do believe that everything Hillary has done is for the greater good.
We have to remember that she is human, just like the rest of us. All of the presidents are, and I think that is so hard for us to remember. Others have made mistakes too.
Abraham Lincoln, a very favorable president to the public, used the law in his favor. He illegally suspended The Writ of Habeas Corpus. Then he sent soldiers to take away an Ohio Senator who did not agree with him and was very vocal about it.
However, Lincoln is still viewed as an amazing president and a hero for ending slavery. Everyone makes mistakes, but that doesn't mean they can't do good.
Hillary fights for this country like no one else. She came from humble beginnings, to possibly become the President of the United States.
And how did she get there?
She devoted her entire life to making this country great, because it is great. She believes we're stronger together, and I'm with her.
Hillary Rodham Clinton gave me my education. I only wish I could give her my vote in return.
