Throughout the entire spring break all I did was look at Instagram posts from PCB, South Padre, Cancun and Hawaii, wishing I was there. I spent the whole week being jealous until it was time for me to leave home. Because I will be graduating very soon, I have been super emotional about everything. I have been trying to make sure I enjoy every moment of school, work and family time because I know I am about to move and things are going to be better, but different. So to make myself feel better about staying home for spring break, I made a list of pros and cons and realized that staying home was actually great.
Because I am always broke, I just save my laundry for when I come home because my mom does it for me. The biggest perk of coming home is letting your family take care of you. While I was home I got free food, free laundry service, free car service, new clothes and extra money. My grandpa wanted to make sure my car was running great, so he did some work on it. My mom and grandma wanted to make sure I was fed, so they bought me all my favorite foods. They worry that I don't have enough money so they paid for everything I needed. Of course, simple quality time with family is always good, too. There is no way any of that would have happened if I had gone on a trip somewhere. Families are always happy to see their baby home from college and love to spoil you. It's great!
If you still have friends left in your hometown, it is always good to spend time with them. My favorite thing about coming home is catching up with my best friend forever and ever. Friends always make everything better.
Of course, going on a spring break trip is awesome, but sometimes relaxing at home in your own bed, being pampered by your family is the best option. It's probably the cheapest option and you get to live like an adult-sized child for a week. There is no pressure to go out or get dressed up, no need to worry about money and everyone tells you how proud they are of you. What more could you want? Basically, there is no place like home.
