12 Reasons Single People Shouldn’t Hate On Valentine's Day

'Tis the season for the obnoxious amounts of pink and red everything at any store you walk into. You can’t go anywhere without the constant reminder of the ever-so-nearing day that celebrates couples all across the country. We all cringe at that moment when a relative or friend asks us about our plans for the big day, as we know it will most likely revolve around ice cream, pizza, and lots of alcohol (depending on your age!). Even so, instead of hating on this special day, it's time for us single gals and gents to accept it for what it is and cheers those couples that have made it another year. Moreover, here are 12 reasons why being single on Valentines day might actually be a blessing in disguise.

1. You save a lot more money since you won't have to worry about the perfect gift or the expensive dinner.

2. You can splurge on something nice for yourself since you won't be spending money on another person.

3. You don't have to worry about working out excessively before the big day because you don't have anyone to impress.

4. You don't have to dress up and worry about trying to be the perfect mix between sexy and classy.

5. This means that it's completely acceptable for you to lounge around in sweats and a sweatshirt all day.

6. And while you're at it, you might as well grab pizza and ice cream to make yourself comfortable because there is no one you have to impress.

7. Let's not forget about the massive amounts of chocolate that need to be eaten. Since you don't have to worry about getting that special crap that comes in the shape of a heart, you can splurge on excessive amounts and believe for that day that calories don't count.

8. You finally get time to have a day dedicated to Netflix and chilling, but this time, you have no other person to distract you from your binge watching of your latest obsession.

9. While you are treating yo' self, do a spa day in your house where you can do nails, a face mask, and other fun treatsies that can make you feel like you could be in a Cover Girl commercial.

10. While you are giving yourself the royal treatment, you get to pour yourself a big glass of some tasty, sweet wine (or juice for the youngsters!) and sit back and relax without the judgment of others. This is one moment where you will truly be living without a care in the world.

11. You won't be getting all nervous trying to anticipate a date. Odds are, your best friend will be sitting right next to you looking just as un-put-together as you are and you most likely will be speaking without any filter.

12. Lastly, even if you don't have a significant other, Valentine's Day can be used as a day for being thankful and appreciative for those best friends you have in your life. Without those special people, you wouldn't be who you are today.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
